This group is on the younger side for sure with some 2023 and 2024’s on roster, but they were able to squeeze out a 36-34 win over the Michigan Mystics 16u team.
Team Notes:
Tree of Hope 16u stays true to their offense. They use all the time needed in order to get off the cleanest shot possible. There ability to grind it out on the offensive end makes it difficult for defenses as any miscue will leave them open for a three, which they shot plenty of all game. Mostly all of the players are some level of a threat from the triple threat position and they played solid overall for there first game of the season!
Prospect Notes:
2023 6’1 SF Jenna Villa Jenna Villa 6'1" | SF Arlington | 2023 State WA (Arlington HS) was one of the top performers in this game. The wing-forward moves well without the ball and she is at her best in catch and shoot situations. Her biggest shot came in the final 15 seconds when she knocked down a three to give Tree of Hope a lead after trailing for the majority of the second half. She is outstanding at the pick and pop, which her team often utilizes.
2024 5’10 PG Katie Fiso (Garfield HS) did a quality job of running the point for her team. She is long, shifty and skilled off the bounce. Although the strength isn’t all there yet, that is understandable as she is playing up several grades. Fiso makes good reads using ball screens and she has a good feel for the game overall. A high major prospect in the 2024 class.
2022 6’0 PF Parker Brown Parker Brown 6'0" | PF Mead | 2022 State WA (Mead HS) was solid at the forward position. She has good size and a strong frame. Brown finished around the basket pretty well and cleaned up the boards. She was not on Mead’s roster a season ago, but she had a solid showing in my first time seeing her today.
2022 5’8 CG Kyla Momberg Kyla Momberg 5'8" | CG Mead | 2022 WA (Mead HS) played really solid throughout the game. She doesn’t do anything to hurt the team and she attacked off the bounce and made sound decisions overall. Momberg was in the game when it was on the line and she made some winning plays. Her older sister Joelnell will be a freshman at Montana next season.
2023 5’5 G Navaeh Talbert Navaeh Talbert 5'6" | CG Garfield | 2023 State WA (Garfield HS) was also solid at the guard position. She is a good drive and kick player, although she could be a bit more aggressive looking for her shot on her drives. She utilized the floater late in the game and scored off of it. Some more of that and she will make a bigger splash on the game.
2023 6’1 PF Imbie Jones Imbie Jones 6'2" | SF Garfield | 2023 State WA (Eastside Catholic HS) best attribute today is her length and shot blocking. She seems to get her hands on a lot of attempted shots around the basket. Added strength and aggression will be a great benefit to her. She has some versatility to attack out of the triple threat on the wing.
