A team that is stacked with talent and has proven they can compete with the toughest competition the Midwest has to offer. This squad consists of eight girls all under 6’0 but a vast amount of skill and ability to impact the game. Below is a highlight of each player and what they contribute to this squad and why coaches should keep an eye on these high-ceiling class of 2023 prospects. Another 2023 notable player for Wisconsin Impact is Lexi Bugajski who is playing two levels up for this program. She is a strong post player with a high ceiling on both ends of the floor, look for her to be on multiple watch-lists moving forward.
1. Braelyn Torres Braelyn Torres 5'7" | CG Kettle Moraine | 2023 State WI | Kettle Moraine | 5’7 G | #22
The best player on the floor for this Wisconsin Impact squad, Torres is all over the place. She does a fantastic job of facilitating while being a huge offense threat. She knocks down the three point shot so effortlessly and has such a smooth release. She can attack the rim as well and is shockling not afraid of contact at her size. Torres is super quick on defense and impacts the game with her ability to stay high pressure and use her long arms to deflect the ball. She is a proficient decision maker on both ends and has a good shot selection as well.
2. Mallory Hoitink | Slinger | 5’9 G | #33
After a great start to her summer season, Hoitink has begun to draw some division 1 attention. She is a strong perimeter shooter with impressive range. Hoitink has impressive on-court vision and understanding for her role on the floor. She seems to have a high basketball IQ as she moves really well without the ball. She sets hard screens and capitalizes off of her teammates to get open.
3. Annika Pluemer Annika Pluemer 5'9" | CG Brookfield East | 2023 State WI | Brookfield East | 5’8 G | #5
A strong athletic physique, Pluemer can hold her own in the post. Against a tough LIR squad, Pluemer played strong post defense against one of the top post players in the state, Kyla Dunaway. She had great footwork and did well moving around and positioning herself to keep Dunaway from getting in rhythm. She runs the floor well and is confident pushing the ball on the break.
4. Allison Hampel Allison Hampel 6'0" | PF Greenfield | 2023 State WI | Greenfield | 5’10 F | #35
A smooth post player that is so composed on the floor. Hampel does a great job of balancing her body and remaining under control when attacking the basket. She has a range of post moves and excels with her back to the basket. This summer however, Hampel has been increasing her range and confidence knocking down the perimeter shot.
5. Emily Jaenke Emily Jaenke 5'10" | CG Fox Valley Luthern | 2023 State WI | Fox Valley Lutheran | 5’10 G | #1
Jaenke has so much potential at her position. At 5’10 she’s difficult to match-up with as she runs the offense for this team. She is quick and can finish the ball while going fast down the court or making a cut. She can finish effectively with either hand when attacking the lane. She has great on-court vision for her teammates and does a good job handling the ball before making the pass.
6. Delaney Buzzell Delaney Buzzell 5'8" | CG Homestead | 2023 WI | Homestead | 5’9 G | #2
A great role player for this team, Buzzle enters the game and contributes by doing all the little things right. She moves well on offense and does an impressive job spacing out for her teammates. She grabs multiple boards per game and will make the hustle play. She is not afraid of contact when attacking the rim.
6. Bella Oestreicher | Beaver Dam | 5’8 G | #11
A quick guard who facilitates well for this team. She runs the offense when she’s on the court and has fantastic on-court vision. She is patient and poised while setting up the offense and I have rarely watched Oestreicher take a forced shot. On defense she is long and knows her spots well. She could easily be a player that has a breakout game at some point this summer for her squad.
8. Cadence Xiong | West Bend East | 5’1 G | #20
Another quick point guard who facilitates the offense for Wisconsin Impact. She is fast with great footwork and quick handles. She pushes the ball up the floor in transition and seems to enjoy the up-tempo style of play that this team exudes. She is scrappy on defense as well and uses her quick footwork to turn the offensive player or cause turnovers.
