Vivianna Solis-5’4 guard (Earl Warren HS) Texas Hoops
Solis is a “size don’t matter ” guard that is fearless, on both ends of the floor and her comprehension was second to none at the event. Playing within yourself, understanding how to control the tempo, protecting the ball, and getting the ball to the right people at the right time play a huge part in going to the next level and she did all of those things plus shot the long ball
Melissa Hornedo-5’1 guard (Antonian College Preparatory) San Antonio Unite Skills Academy
Hornedo is doing something I’m seeing an abundance of guards implementing into their repertoire, “the hez” and after watching another #sizedontmatter guard from the San Antonio area, Bria McClure Bria McClure 5'6" | PG Steele | 2021 State TX , master it, I can see others are following suit and Hornedo definitely understands how to use it. She sees the floor, creates her shot under pressure, and nails it, plus she attacks strong
Braylyn Sosa -5’6 guard (New Braunsfels HS) DBK Premier
Sosa sets defenders up nicely and she has a slight stutter step in transition that enables her to get past those who lean the wrong way but her open court ability doesn’t stop there as she can hit the stop and pop accurately. She also created her shot in tight situations, this is definitely a big plus because she can take the mid or attack, and watching her draw contact and get to the line, where shot it accurately was another biggie, and when you add her ability to shoot the long ball…
Leandra Antopia -5’2 guard (Somerset HS) Hoopstarz
Antopia was feisty, no matter what the drill was, she was on it and put in work so the fact that her height falls into the #sizedontmatter hashtag, it really didn’t because she’s a competitor that just kept applying heat when the games started and watching her handle the ball, under pressure, in the open court was nice because she didn’t let herself get trapped, she split the defense and more importantly, she saw the floor and she saw it so well, she hit teammates on the money for layups
Jillian Torres-5’6 guard (Brennan HS) San Antonio Unite
Torres brought some excitement as well as energy and her pull-up jumper was one of the best in the camp and she showed what was coming in the drills as she was a highlight waiting to happen. She also showed she could create her shot while being defended tightly, she handled the ball in the open as court as well as the half court and she attacked the basket strong and finished with consistency, even after the lick but two other biggies, she saw the floor and made passes in traffic and she played the passing lane
