They used to have a saying “the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores” yet they also had another dumb saying “they’res something for everyone” but based on the number of colleges divided by players, you would have to believe that person did not fare well on their SAT but remember the prize of the prizes, “if you can play, they will find you” but here we go
Darien Reinangel-5’3 guard (Sandra Day O’Connor HS) San Antonio Islanders
Reinagel got after it from the start of the event and during the skills session she went through everything with ease but her competitive spirit stood out and continued when the 5 on 5 games began. She’s a fierce defender, mans up full court and is fearless which is into the #sizedontmatter mindset and as a bonus, she not only created her shot well, she shot the ball well, especially from long range but don’t get it twisted, she mixed up so well she had defenders guessing
Janiah Perkins-5’2 guard (Highland HS)Texas Flight Elite 16U
Perkins upside at the one sent a bright light off in my head because she gets it and she definitely gives it to right players at the right time but watching her thread the needle between defender for assists was nice because her passes are smooth and crisp and she makes them on throws them on the money going full speed and speaking of speed, she’s fast, with the ball so that adds something to her game as well but watching her use her athleticism to attack the basket has me amped about seeing her in a few months
Alyssa Batton-5’6 guard (Hutto HS) Competitive Edge
Batton was another pleasant surprise I was informed about by her club coach who I named Radio before she starred at Duncanville and Texas but she told me to watch out for her kids and I definitely did. Battonkandle the ball under pressure and she makes plays as well as good decisions and when you throw in her ability to attack and kick or just keep it, that’s something to build on but she saw the floor in a variety of settings and dropping the 3 was an added bonus
Tyanna Simpson-5’10 forward (Kileen HS) Competitive Edge
Simpson turned it on during the 5 on 5 games, I mean I liked what she brought to the table during the skills but when the bright lights came on, she was more than ready. She has size and strength, good athletic ability as well as agility and watching her defend in the paint as well as block, deflect or alter shots not to mention rebound strongly on both ends and run the floor definitely had me going but she showed she could finish as well as face the basket and score

Debi Hernandez-5’1 guard ((San Antonio Islanders)
Hernandez is on here because I’m already impressed with what my crystal ball is telling me. Keep in mind she is about to enter high school and she was going against several players in their last year or next to it but it wasn’t a deterrent as she got after it a number of ways and I speak about several lost arts that aren’t being taught, she understands how to throw the entry pass, she sees the court from the full length of it and she attacks and finishes strongly or will drop the three because #sizedntmatter when you can PLAY
