Continue ReadingIt is almost the end of August, which means players across South Florida are heading back to school (sorta). It also means prospects from the class of 2023 are ready to propel their games after getting a introduction to the high school level from last season. Many of the following players have already made an impact and are ready to become household names.
Let’s take a look…
Kristina Godfrey Kristina Godfrey 5'7" | PG Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL – Miami Country Day
Godfrey has been putting in work for the Miami Suns-Team Larkins this summer. The 5-foot-8 guard is looking to carry that momentum over to the Spartans this season. The rising sophomore is part of a young group that went 21-10 before falling to the Master’s Academy in overtime. Once Godfrey gets going, she is tough to stop on the offensive end. I am looking for her to settle in this season as a big game player.
Madison Aguilera – Gulliver Prep
Even with two seniors and 2022 Riana Doctor Riana Doctor 6'0" | PF Gulliver Prep | 2022 State FL , Aguilera still made a name for herself for Gulliver Prep. The 5-foot-2 guard averaged 12.3 points and 2.5 assists across 27 games. Aguilera scored 21 points twice against St. Brendan and Westminster Christian. In both of those contests, Aguilera shot a combined 15-of-23 from the floor. Additionally, Aguilera has a good outside shot with 59 3-pointers made last season. The Aguilera-Doctor combination should form one of the better young duos in South Florida.
Alancia Ramsey Alancia Ramsey 6'0" | PF St Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL – American Heritage (Delray)
The future is very bright for the Stallions. Specifically, American Heritage returns all five of its leading scorers from last season. One of those players is Alancia Ramsey Alancia Ramsey 6'0" | PF St Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL . Ramsey averaged 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds as a freshman. Per Max Preps, Ramsey posted nine double-doubles last season. Against Oxbridge Academy, the sophomore superstar scored 18 points and grabbed 16 boards. Ramsey can make an impact on all levels of the floor.
Taylor Romano Taylor Romano 5'6" | CG American Heritage (Delray) | 2023 State FL – American Heritage (Delray)
I’m no expert, but I am willing to bet the Stallions go better than 15-12 next season. Reason A is above. Reason B has been mentioned in my previous posts. Reason C is Taylor Romano Taylor Romano 5'6" | CG American Heritage (Delray) | 2023 State FL . Romano averaged 10.2 points and 5.6 rebounds last season. The rising sophomore is also an excellent defender, having recorded almost three steals per game. Against Coral Springs Charter, Romano shredded her opponent for 33 points and seven 3-pointers. With her a part of a young group, the Stallions should have high expectations next season.
Karina Gordon Karina Gordon 5'8" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL – St. Thomas Aquinas
A former transfer from Miami Country Day, Gordon has a bright future for the Lady Raiders. The 5-foot-8 combo guard is a highly skilled ball handler who acts as a second coach on the floor. Additionally, her skills to dribble the rock make her an excellent passer. Gordon has a plethora of talent around her that should not only grow her game, but others as well.
