There are players ranked past the top 50 that are turning the heads of coaches, scouts, and fans. We will look at 5 of those athletes.
Jillian Gomes Jillian Gomes 5'11" | PF Berkley | 2023 State MI (SF, Berkley)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: 51
Gomes does a nice job freeing herself for open shots by working without the ball. She can shoot from mid range or behind the arc, as well as put the ball on the floor for a straight line drive.
Alyssa Wypych Alyssa Wypych 5'10" | PG Rockford | 2023 State MI (PG, Rockford)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: 52
Wypych has really looked like a quality lead guard. She understands what the offense is trying to do and where the ball needs to go. Wypych is that steady floor general that coaches value
Kenzie Bell Kenzie Bell CG Sault Area | 2023 State MI (CG, Sault Area High School)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: 61
It’s hard to get press way up north, but Bell certainly deserves it. Her versatility is incredibly valuable. Bell can effectively play on or off the ball.
Megan McCalla Megan McCalla 5'11" | PF Chelsea | 2023 State MI (PF, Chelsea)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: 67
McCalla has shown that she’s a forward to keep an eye on in the coming years. She goes hard on the glass and rebounds even better than her size. McCalla has nice footwork and is a pretty versatile scorer.
Mary Copple Mary Copple 5'7" | PG Brighton | 2023 State MI (PG, Brighton)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: 71
Copple has looked REALLY good this summer. She is a lot more explosive on both ends than I had anticipated. Copple can play a score first or pass first style.
