Continue ReadingOver the last several years the Bay State Jaguars have established themselves as one of the premier programs in all of New England. They have been winning on the court and producing college level talent each and every year. Despite navigating through an unfamiliar summer with Covid 19 restrictions still in Massachusetts, Club President Laurie Bollin and her staff have done an amazing job keeping this program moving forward.
In the month of August the Jaguars headed down to Pennsylvania for The Prime Event invitation only tournament and did not disappoint. Their 17u team went 4-1 with their only loss in double overtime. The 14s, 15s and 16s all had great showings winning 3 games each. Lets take a look at a few of the Jaguars standouts.
2022 Shay Bollin Shay Bollin 6'3" | SF Bridgewater-Raynham | 2022 #26 Nation MA Bridgewater Raynham The PGH New England top ranked player in Massachusetts for the Class of 2022 had a great weekend. Using an offensive skill set where she can score from all over the court Shay was 8th in the tournament in scoring at 15.6ppg and added 7 boards. She has a number of high major offers and will be exciting to watch this season.
2022 Nicole Parks Westport – This power forward had an outstanding weekend on the boards finishing 11th out of almost 1400 players racking up 8.8 rebounds per game. Certainly a name to watch this fall season.
2022 Avery O’Connor Avery O’Connor 5'10" | SF Dedham | 2022 State MA Dedham – Small Forward is our 17th ranked player in the state of Massachusetts. Her high motor makes her a factor in each game. Avery helped the Jaguars while scoring 9.9ppg and almost 7 rebounds.
2021 Alexandra Giannaros Alexandra Giannaros 5'6" | PG Tabor | 2021 State MA Tabor – The Boston University commit and second ranked player in Massachusetts in the Class of 2021 continues to show why she is one of the best point guards around. Absolutely fills up the stat sheet every time she plays. She scored 11ppg with 5rpg and almost 4 assists. The Terriers landed a great player!!
2023 Sophia Vital Sophia Vital 5'2" | PG Tabor | 2023 NewE Tabor – The top ranked player in Massachusetts in the Class of 2023 this point guard put the entire field on watch as she led the tournament in assists with 6 per game. Sophia also added over 11ppg and was 6th in the tournament at 3.4 steals per game.
The younger generation of Jaguars had an exciting weekend at the Rhode Island Breakers tournament in New Hampshire. Coach Pat Lamb’s (Plymouth North) girls played up a division and went 5-0. Lets introduce some of the standouts and keep an eye on these up and coming stars.
2024 Camryn Collins Mansfield – Was a major disruption on the defensive end causing turnover after turnover.
2024 Reese Bartlett Bridgewater Raynham – Used her strength and athletic ability to dominate the boards and win every 50/50 ball.
2024 Jessica Silk Beaver Country Day – This rising freshman will be tough on opposing defenses as she hit 7 three pointers in the final game of the weekend.
2024 Elizabeth Cain Wachusett – Finished at the basket in transition all weekend as she created the break by owning the glass.
2024 Mary Gibbons Wachusett – Hit shot after shot from mid-range out beyond the arc.
Finally a few more Jaguars who had great performances this past weekend.
2023 Laura Shedd Johnson Lincoln Sudbury – Filled up the stat sheet, as she scored 11 points with 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in a Jaguars victory.
2021 Lulu Ohm Lulu Ohm 5'3" | PG Waltham | 2021 MA Waltham – Rising senior had 13 points and 4 steals. She will be one to watch this winter.
2021 Abby Pickup Tabor – Had a great second game scoring 13 points and adding 6 rebounds.
