Continue ReadingThe GMC has been dominated by St. Thomas Aquinas over the last two years. The Trojans will be losing some key members of the team which means some new faces will have to step up. That is the case for all teams. Here are some players due for a breakout season in 2020-2021.
Jessica Cooper (2023) | St. Thomas Aquinas
The Trojans are losing both Kelsey Ransom and Emma Boslet Emma Boslet 5'10" | PG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2020 State NJ . Akyia Baker will be back to lead the way and Cooper can be a nice compliment. She showed some promise down low as a freshman. Cooper has the ability to score down low and get to the free throw line. The floor will stay balanced with her on the floor.
Rosie Regan (2021) | Monroe
Regan was a capable scorer as a junior bu the role was not extended. With the loss of Madison Carey Madison Carey 5'6" | SG Monroe | 2020 State NJ and Brielle Fitzpatrick, Monroe will need Regan to take her game to the next level. This is something she can do from all three levels. Regan excels in the lane and can step out and shoot from deep.
Camila Lucas (2021) | South River
Lucas is a two-way player that can take a huge step as a senior. South River is losing Ashley Fischer but retaining some elite talent that has already emerged as stars. Lucas can be next using her defensive and rebounding abilities.
Alexa Castro (2023) | Dunellen
Castro had a strong freshman season with nearly 10 point and seven rebounds per game. Those numbers can rise in the future. She can score from all three levels and handle the ball with great ability. Castro showed signs of becoming a star for Dunellen and she will completely breakout as a sophomore.
Jordan Wehrle (2021) | Sayreville
Sayreville has some returning talent with Brooke Holland and Stephanie Van Note. Wehrle could take on a bigger role as a senior and give Sayreville a big three heading into the season. She was one of the top defenders on the team who used her quick hands and feet well to get in the passing lanes. Wehrle will be an intriguing player ot watch in her final season.
