Look out for these 5 players to take their game to the next level as sophomores.
Drew Jordon Drew Jordon 6'0" | SF Bishop McNamara | 2023 State MD – Combo Gaurd, 5’11″- Maret
Drew had a very solid freshman year which ended with her scoring in double figures in 5 straight games. An extremely athletic, versatile, and high energy player, she is just as likely to pull down a rebound and go up strong as she is to make the extra pass to set up her teammates. Look for her to continue to add to her game by expanding her range this year and consistently knocking down threes.
Delaney Thomas Delaney Thomas 6'2" | C St. John's College | 2023 State MD – Forward, 6’2″- St. John’s
Having started every game as a freshman, Delaney has the experience necessary to take another leap this year and become a dominant force. Already a good midrange shooter, she is looking to expand her range to the three-point line to become a true stretch 4. She is no slouch in the post either as she can make good moves close to the basket and pass out of double teams. Additionally, Delaney is looking stronger this season which should only add to her prowess as a rebounder and hard worker on the defensive end.
Jadyn Donovan Jadyn Donovan 6'1" | SF Sidwell Friends School | 2023 State #21 Nation MD – Wing, 5’11″- Sidwell Friends
A super athletic kid, Jadyn looks poised to build on a freshman year that saw her score north of 15 points a game. She uses her athleticism well frequently getting out in transition, pulling down countless boards, and ranks as one of the best shot blockers on the team. She can also facilitate for her teammates in both the half-court and transition. While she needs to continue to develop her jump shot look for her to build on her DCSAA Second Team ranking.
Jade Tillman Jade Tillman 6'2" | PF Good Counsel | 2023 State MD – Shooting Guard, 5’11″- St. John’s
Another talented sophomore from St. John’s, Jade has made a name for herself as a three-level scorer. With a very good three-point shot and plenty of strength to finish around the rim, she can be a threat from anywhere on the floor. With good hands and nice athleticism, she is capable of making explosive plays, grabbing steals, and pulling down plenty of rebounds.
Dymond Brown- Point Guard, 5’5″ – Bell Multicultural
Perhaps a lesser-known talent, Dymond has the potential to make a big jump this upcoming season. She is making herself known as a defensive stopper with quick hands and very good footwork for someone her age. Surprisingly, she also ranks as one of the best shot blockers on her team showcasing her athleticism. While her offensive game is in need of some work look for her to draw the toughest defensive assignments and make life difficult for opposing players.
