It’s necessary to adjust not only for the quickened pace of games but also the physicality that comes with it all while further developing skills. Incoming freshmen have a lot of time to grow but make sure to keep a lookout for these 5 to make an impact now and in the future.
Precious King- Small Forward, 5’11”- Bell Multicultural
Highly recruited out of Middle School, Precious has the opportunity to be a real difference-maker in her Freshman season. A phenomenal athlete, who plays physical for her age, she can rack up rebounds and blocks while also getting out in transition. While she needs time to continue to develop guard skills her motor on both the offensive and defensive end and her leadership attributes make her an intriguing player going forward.
Kendall Dudley- Small Forward, 6’0″- Sidwell Friends
With great size for a wing, Kendall plays an extremely well-balanced game. She does a little bit of everything from knocking down outside shots, to rebounding, to making the extra pass. The daughter of a coach, she has a high IQ for the game leading to great decision-making abilities. While she may not be the focal point for this Sidwell Friends team, expect her to fill her role as a glue player very well.
Leah Harmon- Point Guard, 5’5″- Sidwell Friends
Another young talent for Sidwell Friends, Leah can serve as the point guard for the future. A smart distributor of the ball with good handles, look for her to provide plenty of assists this upcoming season. Besides passing, she can be an offensive threat in her own right with a good three-point shot and the ability to get to the rim.
Madisyn Moore- Point Guard, 5’5″- Georgetown Day School
Look for Madisyn to take the pressure off of GDS’ leading scorer and ball-handler Sofia Greenfield. A high IQ guard, she can really run and facilitate an offense. Her leadership abilities are beyond her years as she is unafraid to speak up and often instructs teammates while on the floor. She also is a tough defender who can buckle down and get stops.
Samia Greene- Guard, 5’5″- Georgetown Day School
Also from Georgetown Day School, Samia brings a different dimension to the guard spot. Already a great three-point shooter, she can also push the ball in transition and get to the rim. An even better defender than her counterpart, Madisyn Moore, Samia anticipates passing lanes and uses quick hands to intercept the ball. What she doesn’t have in size, she makes up for in hustle even grabbing rebounds over bigger stronger players.
