Continue ReadingComing off of a season that abruptly ended immediately after her team reached the state final, KaCee Kyle KaCee Kyle 5'8" | CG Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO is taking nothing for granted.
Kyle is no stranger to being a part of a team with high expectations. She is, however, stepping into a position that will demand much more out of her than was previously required. It’s a challenge she is eager to take on in order to prove her worth as a championship player and valuable college prospect.
“It’s going to be different for sure,” Kyle said. “I’m also excited because it’s something different, and I trust and know that the girls that are going to be coming up next year are working out and trying to get better. I have to pick up a leadership role, Abby [Wrede] has to pick up a leadership role, so it’s motivating me to be a new leader and experience something different. I’m excited about it.”
Like many players in her class, Kyle’s collegiate future is still uncertain.
“At the beginning of my sophomore year, I got an offer from DU and I still have that offer,” Kyle said. “No new offers, but new coaches have been reaching out.”
In addition to her offer from the University of Denver, Kyle has been talking with several programs throughout her last two seasons. These schools include the Air Force Academy, Utah State University, Drake University, University of Northern Colorado, California Baptist University and University of California San Diego.
During a recent AAU tournament, the 5-foot-8 guard performed well enough to garner attention from recruiters from Pepperdine University and Georgetown University. Currently ranked 10th in the Prep Girl Hoops Colorado player rankings for the Class of 2021, Kyle is a versatile guard who finds ways to be impactful any time she steps on the court. She is a vocal player who embodies the role of floor general when at point guard. When playing as a shooting guard, Kyle can move well enough to draw attention and open a lane for her teammate or get in a position for an open look and put points up. Defensively, Kyle applies vice-like pressure that is tough for opponents to get by.
Throughout her three-year varsity career, Kyle has averaged 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, two assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She’s coming off of a season that finished with her tallying eight points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 steals a night.
Kyle has a 3.5 GPA and wants to major in a discipline that will keep her in the world of sports after college.
“I’d like to be in sports medicine and stay in the sports realm,” Kyle said. “If not, I’d like to be in sports broadcast journalism and maybe even coaching.”
With so much going on right now, Kyle has not lost sight of what it will take to achieve her goals. She has been working hard during the offseason to ensure that she stays ready for when the season tips off.
“I’ve been going to practice and lifting, playing pick-up games with college girls, training with Derek Griffin of Hardwood Evolution, and getting speed and agility work with Coach Desmond Wilford of Intense Sports Training,” Kyle said.
The road ahead is paved with uncertainty, and Kyle is unafraid of the challenge.
