I really appreciated the hospitality shown by Tournament Directors at both locations and I will do my best to evaluate all of the talent that is here in this event. I arrived to the gym at 4pm and stayed there and watched game after game until about 9pm, I will evaluate each girl we believe stood out yesterday and we hope you will enjoy the article and stories about these young ladies. These are the Top Performers of Friday nights games in Vegas.
2022, 6’1, SF, Kent Lake HS (WA), Zahirah Walton Zahirah Walton 5'11" | SG Kentlake | 2022 State WA – Zahirah is a beast on the court, never afraid of anyone that is around her, she was relentless in her pursuit to contribute to her teams victory by any means necessary. She has great size, she has strength, she has speed and a college ready body that makes her a valuable asset for her team. She can get to the rim off the dribble, she can rebound and push it on the break and she was probably one of the more aggressive rebounders in the gym. This kid is scary good, college coaches should be all over her on September 1, 2020.
2023, 5’2, PG, East Side Catholic HS (WA), Malia Samuels Malia Samuels 5'7" | PG Garfield | 2023 State #46 Nation WA – Malia is a blur in the open court, she can handle it well, changes directions when needed and does not use any wasted dribbles. She has been taught by a wise point guard and it shows in how she is so young, but not afraid or rattled at any time on the floor. She can break you down and get to the rim, she can pull up with a nice three ball from outside, but what we would like to see is a more polished midrange, but Malia is young an all those skills will come in the near future. College Coaches she will be high-major by her junior year, get connected with this one soon.
2022, 6’2, SF, Woodcreek HS, Paris Green – She was a decent post presence for her team and showed us that she was agile and athletic in the open floor. She was a good rebounder and was skilled in the paint to finish at the basket with her size and strength which makes her a good asset for her team.
2022, 5’10, F, Laguna Creek HS, Ahray Young – Nice forward type with a great college body already, she was one of the toughest kids on the floor in this game and it did not surprise me. She is able to get to the rim and finish thru contact as well as being one of the better rebounders for her team in this game. She defended well and was a great teammate that set screens, dived for balls and took charges in the paint. She even got into the passing lanes and stole balls and was able to take them all the way down and score.
