Continue ReadingI repeat myself numerous times for a number of reasons like some people like to “speed-read” and miss important information I give like “where I’ll be” as far as events and showcases and I’m one of those “seeing is believing” kind of guys because I’ve been involved in girls basketball since the turn of the century and I’ve seen politics play a part in who gets publicity as well as those who have certain motives and agendas, I’m not that person, I’m one of those “show me on the court” types who truly knows “talent is everywhere” which is why I have it pinned on my Twitter profile and although I cover all types of events, I still may miss players here and there due to club teams hiding them because they don’t want to lose them if they blow up, yes that happens or some just don’t have the basic comprehension on what’s truly beneficial but I’ll break down the 15 players I added to the Top 100 starting now
Alicia Blanton Alicia Blanton 5'8" | CG Foster | 2021 State TX -5’8 CG (Foster HS)
Blanton was erroneously omitted and that’s on me because she’s been making my Tip Sheets since the 6th grade but what I’ve always known is that she could score multiple ways. Fast forward to now, she attacks the rim stronger and finishes with contact and her mid to long-range game have expanded but what I really like is that her ballhandling under pressure, her ability to see the floor, and her passing have all shot up not to mention her defense
Jordyn Weaver Jordyn Weaver 5'10" | SF Wagner | 2021 State TX -5’10 SF (San Antonio Wagner HS)
Weaver’s first name may have been spelled wrong but her game was right when I caught her initially at the Tyrone Johnson Showcase back in 2017. Without enough information os rosters, this is what happens because had I known what class she was in, she too would have been on here initially but nevertheless, the best way to describe what she does in the paint is “relentless effort” and I love #THROWBACK players because “she will not be outworked”. She’s long athletic, remember that’s the base, she attacks from anywhere and finishes everywhere plus she still has upside
Taylor Jarrels Taylor Jarrels 5'8" | SG Lamar Consolidated | 2021 State TX -5’8 SG (Lamar Consolidated HS)
Jarrels is in my own back yard I missed her but let me drop the * on her. She has been battling injuries the past two seasons so when I caught her at Shooting 4 Da Cure, I was impressed yet a month later, she looked even better at the Cy Fair Individual Showcase and that “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” dropped like a ton of bricks because showcases tend to have next-level players going against next-level players and I had multiple college coaches hit me up during the live stream asking me to quit tweeting about her because they didn’t want to lose her but the “cat is out of the bag” and watching her take defenders strong and finish acrobatically as well as those monster pull-up jumpers in transition definitely have helped her
Grace Abercrombie Grace Abercrombie 6'0" | SF Jacksonville | 2021 State TX -6’0 SF (Jacksonville HS)
I asked Abercrombie was she related to Fitch and she cracked up, I guess that wasn’t the first time she heard that corny comparison yet her game isn’t corny as I used my search bar and she falls into that perfect example of “falling in the cracks” because I knew nothing about her. Also long and athletic and attacks the basket with ease but her defense and timing, especially on blocking, deflecting, or altering shots definitely stood out as well as her energy level remains the same plus when you add she plays the passing lane, oh yeah
Crystal Smith Crystal Smith 5'7" | SG Tomkins | 2021 State TX -5’7 SG (Tompkins HS)
Smith caught my eye last season at Prime Time Nationals as well as during the playoffs but she has continued to elevate her game, first with a new club team against more competitive players and in various showcases including most recently, the 713 Showcase which I called her, drumroll please, “THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER in area, will join PGH Texas Top 100” and she is, especially after her PassThaBall Select 40 showing. Solid jumper, either in the half-court or in transition sowing the stop and pop but her game has definitely elevated
