Continue ReadingI have my own terminology and I always inform people I’m an evaluator, not a journalist so thanks to Grammarly, my typos have been cut down tremendously and when I see “can’t miss” “real deal” or the now prevalent “elite shooter” I often just SMH id disbelief but one more time, although social media has done some good in girl’s basketball, for the most part, it has helped mess this stuff completely off but don’t fear, I’m still here to give you my nonbiased views because I have no agenda other than dropping facts and I use the term “the magic number” because that is 6’0 and over the years if you are at that number, you have an over 90% chance of playing somewhere with any type of ability so I was pleased to catch 5 players over that number that are definitely next level up to BCS possibility
Kaylee Howell Kaylee Howell 6'2" | C Rockport Fulton | 2022 State TX -6’2 P/PF (Rockport Fulton HS) Corpus Christi Thunder
Howell has always been intriguing, I lost track of her and she should have been on here from the jump yet this is what’s known as a correctable error because she can operate with ease in the paint yet she can also attack from the wing and shoot the midrange and with her long and athletic body combined with a very strong first step, she creates problems. Rebounds and defends
Aniah Hall Aniah Hall 6'3" | PF Temple | 2022 State TX -6’3 P/PF (Temple HS) Lady Drive Nation
Hall has just exceeded my expectations with her massive jump in one year and now with her college-ready body, size, and strength, the ball is in her court on how high she goes, and trust me, I haven’t seen too players in this era go after rebounds the way she does because she won’t quit and since her hands and footwork have gotten better, she’s a threat offensively but to show me why I have her as a power forward as well as a post is because of her mobility as she showed she could put it on the floor and attack
Samantha Ising Samantha Ising 6'3" | C Hebron | 2022 State TX -6’3 P (Hebron HS) Cy Fair Nike
Ising’s upside is why I upgraded her because she too has made drastic jumps but she’s strong, she’s athletic and she plays within herself and with her size and skill-set, she is going to keep getting better because you can see the determination when she’s on the court. She finishes strong after contact, she rebounds the same way, strong and on both ends of the court but on top of that, she can run the floor and she can defend
Tatum Boettjer Tatum Boettjer 6'2" | PF Derby | 2022 State TX -6’2 PF/SF (Derby HS) Team Lex Breeze 2022
Boettjer can play both the forward spots because she can bring power in the paint, well overpower in the paint would be a better word and she can also attack from outside and drop the midrange jumper. I love the physicality as she does shy from giving nor taking and finishing strongly after contact while applying pressure on defense are two huge things to have in your skillset but her sheer strength in battling on both ends for rebounds falls definitely into that #THROWBACK era
Aaliyah Roberson Aaliyah Roberson 6'2" | PF Clark | 2022 State TX -6’2 PF (Clark HS) San Antonio Hoops Elite Gold
Roberson is long and athletic, remember that’s the base and I say that a lot for numerous reasons but like with any base, you need to add things and her ability to play the passing lane, her attacking the basket and finishing after the lick, and her rebounding is among the reasons I added her but she has good timing that will get even better and when you see a player block three different players shots in the same possession, that says a lot
