Superlatives for the best of the best that I saw this offseason.
6-0 G Sydney Bowles Sydney Bowles 6'1" | CG Woodward Academy | 2022 State #17 Nation GA – Georgia Pearls – Woodward Academy
Known for her jump shooting, Sydney Bowles Sydney Bowles 6'1" | CG Woodward Academy | 2022 State #17 Nation GA impressed me over the summer with her commitment of attacking defenses off the dribble. She looked more explosive when getting to the rim and forced defenses to hack away to stop her. Bowles has the size to score inside and out. Imagining her game getting even more diverse is a scary thought for the defense.
5-7 PG Kaleigh Addie Kaleigh Addie 5'7" | PG Greater Atlanta Christian School | 2022 State #66 Nation GA – Team Elite – GAC
Creative with the ball and able to shake defenders to open up separation, Kaleigh Addie Kaleigh Addie 5'7" | PG Greater Atlanta Christian School | 2022 State #66 Nation GA is a dynamo scorer. She’s a solid shooter that can get hot from deep. Addie puts a ton of pressure on on-ball defenders as she’s able to blow by after one quick move. She’s been known to come up big in big games and has no problem carrying the load.
6-1 F Claire Davis Claire Davis 6'1" | SF Cass | 2022 State GA – JustUs League – Cass
Claire Davis Claire Davis 6'1" | SF Cass | 2022 State GA is a versatile forward that literally can play every position on the floor. She’s a tough rebounder and skilled passer but it’s her offense that draws the majority of the attention. Davis is adept at working the high post, able to turn and face and decide whether to shoot, drive or facilitate. She’s rugged on the low block but has the finesse and skill to bury the long ball.
6-2 F Kharyssa Richardson Kharyssa Richardson 6'2" | SF New Manchester | 2022 State GA – Hoop Dreams Athletics – New Manchester
Inside-out, Kharyssa Richardson Kharyssa Richardson 6'2" | SF New Manchester | 2022 State GA can punish opponents when going to the basket or scoring on the block. Not many players I saw this offseason were more physical than Richardson. She’s got deft footwork when attacking from the perimeter and can put defenders away with a powerful spinning drop step. It’s easy to see why High Majors are hot on her trail.
5-9 F Aliyah Washington Aliyah Washington 5'9" | SF North Paulding | 2022 State GA – Hoop Dreams Athletics – North Paulding
Still maybe the most underrated player in the 2022 class, pitbull Aliyah Washington Aliyah Washington 5'9" | SF North Paulding | 2022 State GA is a scary matchup nightmare. She has an uncanny nose for the ball and a motor that won’t quit. She scores around the basket and has grown her range out to the three-point line. Washington is still polishing up some areas of her game but when she’s a finished product, she’s a D-I competitor.
5-10 PG Paris Miller Paris Miller 5'10" | PG Johns Creek | 2022 State #30 Nation GA – FBC United The Family – Johns Creek
Paris Miller Paris Miller 5'10" | PG Johns Creek | 2022 State #30 Nation GA pieced it all together this summer and has seen High Major offers role in. The big guard can shoot from distance and get to the rack. She has a smooth feel to her game and has gotten more comfortable handling ball pressure. In her new found home at Johns Creek, she will be the primary scoring option. Miller may have an explosive final two seasons.
6-0 G Flau’jae Johnson Flau’jae Johnson 6'0" | CG Sprayberry | 2022 State GA – FBC BounceNation Jay 2021 – Sprayberry
It was the summer of Flau’jae as she took over the summer ball circuit and might be the hottest prospect Georgia has to offer. Her blend of size and skill is tough to find. She’s got an effortless grace about her game which is intertwined with swagger. Johnson is a major competitor on the floor and a showman. She routinely makes highlight plays, dropping defenders and finishing with ease. Johnson is one of the best players in Georgia.
