We will take a closer look at some of the bigs and guards who showcased their skills over the next few days, but for now, let’s look at who really stood out above everyone. There were coaches of all levels – though D-I coaches had to watch online – that were wowed by several athletes in attendance.
Blesseth Dillingham Blesseth Dillingham 5'2" | PG Midwest City | 2021 State OK | 5-1 PG | Midwest City | 2021 | @ beethekidd11
The elephant in the room when Blesseth is on the court is her height. She is shorter than most players. That being said, she is also the best player in every room that she enters. It was no different during the I-35 Showcase. Blesseth can ball. Flat out. She will ball in Division-I when somebody finally gives her the chance. I overheard several of the D-II coaches in attendance commenting on the fact that she doesn’t currently hold a D-I offer and that the coaches passing her up because of her height don’t know what they are doing. Dillingham’s defense is top-notch. She drives to the hoop with viciousness and easily tosses one-handed line-drive passes to the wing when she senses the double team. She is a coach on the court and led her team – thrown together in just 30-minutes of drills, mind you – to an undefeated day. She holds several offers from D-II’s and as the coaches in attendance know… she deserves more.
Jayda Holiman | 5-6 PG | Edmond Santa Fe | 2023 | @Jaydaballislife
When you go to a showcase, it is basically a chance for players to show off to a lot of coaches at once. They are all out there working hard, giving it all, really just trying not to let the opportunity pass them by. That is why watching Holiman play at a showcase is almost shocking. How when a whole room of players is going all out does one player stand out above almost everyone with her work ethic? Holiman never takes a play off. She goes hard on both ends and is unafraid to guard anyone. She plays inside and outside on both ends and does it at a very high level. She has outstanding handles and excels at the point. Jayda is a 2023 and definitely merits a trip to Edmond when the high school season kicks off. You’re going to want to see her in person.
Jordan Chancellor Jordan Chancellor 5'9" | CG Verdigris | 2021 State OK | 5-9 SG | Verdigris | 2021 | @jodontdoit
I had never seen Chancellor play in person. I was glad that I got to. Within fifteen minutes, while the teams were still running through drills, I knew that she was one to watch. She was a vocal leader, guiding her new found teammates through the drills. She has very good handles to go along with outstanding vision. Chancellor has a ton of confidence in her shot and it proved to be a good thing. She works hard to get position on the perimeter and when left alone will drain the shot at a very high rate. She has a swagger that helped her standout amongst the crowd – in a good way. Jordan appears to be a very good teammate and any college program would be very grateful to have her. She currently holds an offer from University of the Southwest with many more to come if she continues to play like she did on Saturday.
Stay tuned for part 2 of the best of the I-35 Showcase in OKC!
