Kylie Arnold, 5’4″, SG, Kylie Arnold — Arnold ran the floor with speed and her eye on ball, which continued into moving well without the ball. She did a terrific job of creating space out of movement. Arnold was then able turn catches into perimeter shots and quick basket attacks. With handles and a strong motor she was able to dribble out of trouble in the full- and half-court. A high IQ player with good vision.
Jaley Barkley Jaley Barkley 5'7" | PG Cair Paravel Latin School | 2022 State KS , 5’7″, PG, Cair Paravel Latin — Barkley showed the ability to knock down a challenged three point shot. She also led a two-on-two break to perfection, finishing with a quick dish to her teammate for the lay-in.
Tatum Boettjer Tatum Boettjer 6'2" | PF Derby | 2022 State KS , 6’3″, PF, Derby — Boettjer’s strong suit during the event was her open court play. She showed the ability to lead transition play off the rebound, using solid handles to get down the floor with speed. Was able to go to the hole, kick to a wing and dive for a return pass and finish, or pull up quickly and shoot the three. Boettjer can take up space inside when she wants to but could be more decisive with her foot work. Would also like to see her get quicker and more physical defending the better scoring post players.
Asia Dawson Asia Dawson 5'6" | SG Wichita East | 2022 State KS , 5’5″, PG, Wichita East — With the talent and athleticism on the floor game speed was a couple levels faster than many players were used to. Dawson was among those that thrived with the increased pace. She showed quickness and physicality on the defensive end and great hands and finishing speed on the offensive. A highlight moment was scoring on a one-handed scoop shot off a right side drive.
Aubree Dawson Aubree Dawson 5'6" | CG Wichita East | 2022 State KS , 5’4″, PG/SG, Wichita East — Like her sister, Dawson showed strong handles while taking to the speed of the game like a duck to water. One terrific moment was a take from the left wing where she got a step on the defender and finished with elevation and athleticism.
Kyla Frenchers Kyla Frenchers 5'6" | PG Maize | 2022 State KS , 5’6″, PG, Maize — Frenchers’ drew attention. Her speed and physicality with the ball was one thing but she showed terrific, immediate acceleration to take advantage of openings.
Raegan Halliday Raegan Halliday 5'7" | PG Olathe South | 2022 State KS , 5’6″, PG, Olathe South — Highlight was a quickly shot, contested three that was all net. She showed terrific handles, speed, and quickness and was solid on the defensive end as well. A high IQ, potent player.
Taylee Hatton, 5’10″, PF, Wichita Northwest — Hatton’s growing confidence in her game was evident and the result was a great event. A solidly built forward, Hatton had a highlight moment out of the left hand short corner. Off the catch she was able to beat her defender baseline to then score on the jump out.
Gabriella Henderson-Artis Gabriella Henderson-Artis 5'10" | SF Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS , 6’0″, SG, Bishop Miege — Long and athletic with the ball, Henderson-Artis absolutely shined. With quick hands to pick ball handlers one-on-one, she led breaks effectively and showed strength in everything she did. A three-point threat, Henderson-Artis is quick to attack defenders to get to the basket from the perimeter. A highlight moment was on a well defended basket attack she used a quick spin move to finish off the play.
Maycee James Maycee James 5'9" | CG Goddard | 2022 State KS , 5’7″, CG, Goddard — James’ is as confident, physical, and athletic of a scorer as you will find. If the shot is to split two defenders and get hammered on a layup attempt, that is what she will do. If it is busting a quick three, that is what she will do. James continued to show her speed and quickness on both ends of the floor and in transition.
Emajin McCallop Emajin McCallop 5'7" | CG Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS , 5’8″, PG, Bishop Miege — The #6 ranked player in the class was the most dominant point guard on the day. Whether she was abusing teammates during drills or working over opponents in games. Fast in transition with the ball, repeatedly getting her way off the bounce, creating for her teammates, or scoring on the perimeter in was rare for defenders to have success slowing her down. A highlight moment was on defense. A recent NCAA Div II commit drove on her down an open lane, but on the way up McCallop ripped the ball out of her hands and took off the other direction before she had a chance to land. One who did have some success against her was…
Hayley Numrich, 5’4″, CG Blue Valley Northwest — New on my radar, Numrich was a beast defensively and was locked in on every opponent she drew. With her handles and quicks on the offensive end she was one only two players I saw that successfully drove to the hole on Emajin McCallop Emajin McCallop 5'7" | CG Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS and scored.
