Many high school athletes put everything they have into their sport. Michigan high school basketball is filled with players that deserve to celebrate the work that they put in. This being Labor Day, we will look at 6 hard working players in Michigan.
Emaia O’Brien Emaia O’Brien 5'7" | PG Chandler Park | 2021 State MI (2021, PG, Chandler Park)
O’Brien is so quick that she frustrates and tires defenders on a consistent basis. There’s never a moment of pause when she’s on the basketball court. This energy and effort has helped her become an elite talent in the state and has allowed her to pick up steam as a Miss Basketball candidate.
Morasha Wiggins Morasha Wiggins 6'0" | SF Kalamazoo Central | 2021 State #42 Nation MI (2021, SF, Kalamazoo Central)
Wiggins has been considered one of the 2 top prospects in the class of 2021. She was out much of last season, with a knee injury, but that’s when her real work began. Wiggins put in endless hours in order to recover solidly and quickly. She has left no doubt that she is coming back even stronger than before.
Alaina Diaz Alaina Diaz 5'7" | CG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI (2022, CG, Hudsonville)
Have you ever watched Diaz play? She’s a relentless player on both sides of the ball. Diaz plays the entire 90 feet, and does so tirelessly. She’s so fast vertically that she never gets caught behind a play. Her speed and effort make her a threat in transition and always one of the first back on D.
Kendal Zeiter Kendal Zeiter 6'2" | PF Troy | 2022 State MI (2022, PF, Troy)
First of all, it seems like she’s always playing. If there’s a tournament, showcase, or camp….it seems like Zeiter is always there. That same commitment is there when she hits the floor. Zeiter is a grinder in the post and will never allow an easy bucket in the paint.
Lexi Boyke Lexi Boyke 6'1" | PF Frankenmuth | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Frankenmuth)
Boyke is so skilled in so many different facets of the game. The refinement of her game at her age is amazing. This doesn’t happen without a countless number of hours spent in the gym when there is no crowd. Boyke is, without a doubt, willing to put in the work to be a top prospect in her class.
Shamya Reid Shamya Reid 5'5" | PG Westfield Prep | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Westfield Prep)
Reid in absolutely fearless on the basketball court. She’ll put her head down and attack, regardless of what the physical consequences may be. Reid is as tough as they come and will not only play through contact, but draw it to her in order to free up a teammate.
