From the camp on Saturday to the tournament on Sunday, several talented prospects from across the Carolinas traveled to Comenius School for some run. Who were some of the standout performers from this past weekend?
Sarah Strong (Strong Center 2024, Fuquay-Varina)
Strong helped lead Strong Center to a 2-0 record this past weekend in Fort Mill including a double digit win over a talented Team Curry 15U squad. She came up big in that game especially when Team Curry was making a late charge in the second half. Strong is an excellent passer and ball handler for her size, showed great shooting touch in the mid-range game, and was the best player on the floor in both of her teams games. Expect her to be a high level player at Fuquay-Varina during the 2020-21 season.
Serenity McNair (Strong Center 2024, Greenfield)
While small in stature, Greenfield standout Serenity McNair played big for Strong Center 2024 last weekend. Against a Team Curry 15U team filled with tenacious defenders, McNair was composed at point guard by making the right plays and not turning the ball over. She already has varsity basketball experience with the Knights and she should have that team in a position to have a good state playoff run this year.
Zaria Clark Zaria Clark CG Gaston Day | 2021 State NC (Team Curry 17U, Gaston Day)
It’s hard to believe that Gaston Day standout Zaria Clark Zaria Clark CG Gaston Day | 2021 State NC hadn’t received an offer until this week when she picked up one from UNC Pembroke. She was one of many standouts for a Team Curry 17U squad that can now say all of the players on that roster have at least one offer. Clark is wired to score and she does so from three, mid-range and attacking the basket. Expect her offer list to increase and for her school to be a state title contender in a loaded NCISAA 2-A division.
Saniya Wilson Saniya Wilson 5'6" | CG Kings Mountain | 2022 State NC (Team Curry 16U, Kings Mountain)
Wilson took over in both of her teams games this past weekend, specifically in their first matchup against Lady Attack Elite. In a tight battle with scoring at a premium thanks to great defense on both sides, it was the Kings Mountain standout that put her team in control late in the contest. She wreaked havoc defensively forcing a string of turnovers that gave Team Curry a bigger lead while also generating offense for herself and her teammates. She certainly continued to prove that she’s one of the top 2022 prospects in North Carolina.
