From the tip-off, the game was a fast paced, high energy game that felt like a playoff game – as both teams were put on tilt, so to speak. Rhyan Mogel Rhyan Mogel 5'10" | SF Clackamas | 2023 State OR and Allie Mead Allie Mead SG Canby | 2023 State OR were amongst the defensive leaders as they used their grit and hustle at the top of the 3/4th court press early from the get go.
Truitt Reilly Truitt Reilly 6'1" | PF Silverton | 2021 State OR was a staple in the defense, as she helped make great rotations and rebounded exceptionally well. Kennedie Shuler Kennedie Shuler 5'10" | PG Sam Barlow | 2023 State OR made some big shots down the stretch as Truitt used some fundamental footwork to get some scores inside the paint. Hageman provided some offensive jolts and Javernik was amongst the mix for the guards with her solid play. Mia Skoro had a nice lay-up as Carly Robb Carly Robb 5'8" | SG West Albany | 2021 State OR sank one from deep. The game provided a big test for the NW Stars in a formidable opponent and they answered in a big resounding way.
Rhyan Mogel Rhyan Mogel 5'10" | SF Clackamas | 2023 State OR 2023 5’10” SF NW Stars/Clackamas HS – Rhyan was one of the main cogs on the full court press that the Stars initiated as she helped close the seal alongside Allie Mead Allie Mead SG Canby | 2023 State OR all game long. Mogel was the tenacious defender that we have all come to know as it was a late game where she started to score from free-throws after being fouled at the rim. It was largely a defensive effort for Mogel where she found ways to contribute offensively. Had 8 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
Truitt Reilly Truitt Reilly 6'1" | PF Silverton | 2021 State OR 2021 6’1” PF NW Stars/Silverton HS – Truitt showed a lot of resilience in the paint as she battled for every 50/50 ball, helping the Stars gain possessions throughout the game. She showed some nice passing skills from the perimeter, including a feed into Shuler. Reilly had some nice footwork in the paint, where she used her pivot foot extremely well, as well as had a nice drive from the three point line. Truitt was a constant cog in a game where her team needed her consistency in the paint. Contributed 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 3 steals.
Allie Mead Allie Mead SG Canby | 2023 State OR 2023 5’5” PG NW Stars/Canby HS – Allie was the beginning and the end of the full court pressure initialized by the Stars, as they used her high motor to stifle Tree of Hope from the get go. She had a nice bullet pass to Truitt and found two perimeter shooters in the transition setting in Hageman and Shuler. Mead rebounded well as when she found the ball, it was off to the races. Had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
Kasidy Javernik Kasidy Javernik 5'9" | PG Tualatin | 2021 State OR 2021 5’9” SG NW Stars/Tualatin HS – Kasidy was a steadfast guard amongst all the commotion, as she helped move the ball and prevented stagnation amongst the pressure and defensively helped provide on and off-ball pressure. She certainly helped by coming in and running with the momentum of the game, as it was a high octane game at times. Contributed 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist for NW Stars.
Kennedie Shuler Kennedie Shuler 5'10" | PG Sam Barlow | 2023 State OR 2023 5’9” PG NW Stars/Barlow HS – Kennedie had some huge moments versus Tree of Hope, as she sank three from three-point land and was always pushing the tempo whenever the ball was in her hands. She showed some quick maneuvering around the defense and never let up despite constant pressure. Shuler also was a key component of their backcourt trap, as she had a hand in some defensive stops. Contributed 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in a magnificent offensive display where she showed the ability to score consistently from three-point and.
Halle Hageman Halle Hageman 5'6" | SG Mountainside | 2022 State OR 2022 5’6” PG NW Stars/Mountainside HS – Hageman was another spark offensively for the Stars, as she sank one from three in the first half that provided an early surge and confidence boost for her team. She had relieved some pressure as the dynamic ballhander moved well with the ball despite constant pressure from Tree of Hope. Contributed 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist for NW Stars.
