Note, the MVP is not included in this group of players by class.
Sparkle Leigh, 5-7 Trotwood Madison
This kid just makes it happen, that is all there is to it. She has next-level handles and even in full attack mode, Sparkle (pictured above) plays under control in command, and with good body control. She has outstanding range, but she is not just a kid who will score from the perimeter, she has the skills to slash and score at the rim, is a solid defender and loves to run the break. A high-intensity player always looking to make the next play.
Emma Miller Emma Miller 5'1" | PG STMA | 2022 State MN , 5-6 Oak Hills
One of the most underrated kids for me coming in simply because I had not seen her before. I loved this kids game! One of the biggest things that caught me eye was just her complete effort in her game. She knows where to be, and she gets to the right spot on the floor. Emma (shown to the left) is a playmaker and an aggressive player with the ball. Her handles are above average, and she uses that to help broaden her game. She is a smart basketball player with a good game IQ. She can score from the perimeter and makes things happen for her teammates.
Leah Smith, 5-8 Purcell Marian
Just watching this player one day, it wasn’t hard to figure out her future in the game is bright. Leah (pictured right) does a nice job putting the ball on the floor to create her offense. She can get to the rim as a good slasher, and has the ability to step out and score from the midrange with a good looking shot. Leah is an aggressive player toward the ball and is a smart player in many aspects of her game. She sees the floor well and passes the ball well on the move.
Her stock looked solid on this specific day with the ability to score in multiple ways, did a good job with her defensive effort and she looks to utilize those skills for a solid senior season.
Destiny Barber, 5-10 Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts
It took me a couple of games to get to see her, but I was impressed with how well she was able to handle herself against the taller players. Destiny (pictured left) has good footwork in the paint, and despite sometimes being undersized against some of the bigger posts, she can control play in the paint and score at the rim. One thing she can continue to improve on is her ability and willingness to move without the ball. She is a good rebounder, and showed some solid promise of working to become even better.
Taryn Cash, 5-6 Princeton
Extremely athletic and this is the third time I have seen her in the last three weeks. She always plays with a high motor and Taryn (pictured right) is great at securing the ball on the drive to the rim. She has the capability to get by people with her speed, and she secures the ball well and gets it up to the rim. She is solid in the transition game, with the ability to make things happen from all over the court. Every time I have seen her, she has been smart with the ball and does what she needs to. She should land on with someone who needs a versatile player.
