Over the next few days, I will break down the top players by class, along with some of the top kids in different aspects of the game.
In the first story today, I will take a look at who I deem to be the top player in each class. They were tough calls with such a talented group, and later I will be announcing my top players by grade. For now, the MVPs at the Expo broken down by class.
2021 MVP
My 2021 MVP on the day was Madison Roshelle Madison Roshelle 5'9" | CG Princeton | 2021 OH , a 5’9 guard from Princeton High School in Cincinnati. She really put together a solid day in all of her games she played in. One thing I really liked about Madison (photo far left) was her ability to see the floor well and get everyone involved. She was very good in transition and played well North-South, speeding up the pace of the game and used her long, athletic frame to stay a step ahead of her opponents. She was able to finish at the rim well with either hand, and showed a lot of good body control.
2022 MVP
In the 2022 class, it didn’t take long to find the MVP as Troy 5’7 point guard Macie Taylor Macie Taylor 5'7" | CG Troy | 2022 State OH did everything so well, she stood out on both ends of the floor. Macie (pictured above) is in the best shape I have ever seen her as she used her athleticism to play fast, was able to explode to the rim past her opponent and can finish well with either hand. Her game was extended out to beyond the arc, showing a lot of consistency and deep range in all four of her games. She commands respect with her overall game. Great handles and can run the offense well. Will find the best shot for her team, passes well and will defend.
2023 MVP
As I watched Clarke Jackson play, it wasn’t difficult to see her talent in action. The 5’9 2023 from Gahanna Lincoln was one of the more vocal players on the court, keeping things in line out on the floor. Clarke kept her team involved in the action, and used her good court vision to be productive in both scoring and passing. Has good handles and can get to the rim to make things happen. Clarke (pictured right) can guard multiple positions and has good range out on the perimeter. If she continues to work on her game, she will have a bright future ahead of her.
2024 MVP
This was a close call for me, and you will get to meet the other top freshman later this week. But for this MVP story, I will have to give the edge to 5’9 wing from Mason Becca Sanders, (pictured left) who made herself known with her solid complete game in multiple aspects of the game. Becca moves well in the paint, and is able to use her athleticism and hard work to help her team be successful. She can defend a player around the rim or step out and guard a perimeter player. Loves her energy and the fact that she just worked so hard. Good future ahead.
