It’s a time where athletes are looked at to become better team leaders all while carrying a bigger workload on the court. Keep a lookout for these 5 juniors who are destined to impress on and off the floor this season.
Kiki Rice Kiki Rice 5'11" | PG Sidwell Friends School | 2022 State #4 Nation MD – Guard, 5’11″- Sidwell Friends
No list of juniors would be complete without the addition of Kiki. She can score at will from all 3 levels and truly excels at getting into the lane and finishing. With her ability to play on or off the ball, shoot from deep, penetrate the paint, and find open teammates due to her high IQ, she has all the skills necessary to compete at the next level. Already an immensely skilled player, look for her to step up as a leader for this very talented Sidwell Friends Team.
Page Greenburg Page Greenburg 5'8" | CG Maret | 2022 State MD – Guard, 5’9″- Maret
As a sophomore, Page was already functioning as the motor of the team. She utilizes a well-developed set of skills including driving strong to the paint, setting up her teammates on kick-outs, and shooting off the bounce. An overlooked aspect of her game is her defense where she utilizes her quick hands and high basketball IQ to read passing lanes and intercept. She consistently puts a ton of effort into working on her game and looks poised to take another step this year.
Sofia Greenfield- Guard, 5’8″- Georgetown Day School
Sofia will look to build on a strong finish to her sophomore year which saw her score in double figures in the final 6 games. Already considered the backbone of this Georgetown Day team, she does everything from bringing the ball up the floor to checking post players at the defensive end. She’s a good shot creator who can shoot off the dribble and coming off screens. However, she makes her most impact at the defensive end where she uses her fantastic anticipation and solid hands to wrack up steals.
Gianni Boone Gianni Boone 5'10" | SF St. John’s College | 2022 State MD – Small Forward, 5’10″- St. John’s
While we weren’t able to see Gianni compete for St. John’s varsity team last year due to transfer rules we were still able to watch her develop her game. Known as a long, athletic, versatile player who can rebound, handle the ball, and create for herself, she has added a consistent outside shot that can take her to the next level. All signs point to her having an excellent year for St. John’s.
Ava McGee Ava McGee 5'9" | SF Maret | 2022 State MD – Small Forward, 5’10″- Maret
Another do it all threat for Maret, Ava can have a true breakout season this year. Already an excellent mid-range shooter, whether it be catch and shoot or off the dribble, look for her to extend that shot out past the 3-point mark. Additionally, she’s a very good rebounder her uses her size and strength to her advantage. Even if her shot isn’t falling she finds a way to impact the game whether on the boards, facilitating more for her teammates, or just making the smart play.
