PNW Elite Guard Combine Eval String (Part 1)
This past weekend Prep Girls Hoops had the opportunity to view several players from around the region that caught our eye. This event could be called the best event for girls in the Pacific Northwest providing not just physical skill development but also other aspects that benefit these talented athletes. Event Director and Pro Trainer Nate Bowie & Allan Brown had some of the top talent from Washington, Oregon, Nor Cal and even Kansas City. 70+ colleges watched the live stream including Portland State, Arkansas University, Kansas State, Fresno State, Mississippi State, Bethune-Cookman, Toledo, Oregon State and Eastern Washington to mention a few.
The event was organized as a combine style with dynamic stretching, ball handling, shooting, screen series, 3 on 3 and much more.
We want to highlight some of the top girls at the event that we scouted. (In no particular order)
2023 Nikole Thomas Nikole Thomas 5'10" | CG Kamiakin | 2023 State WA (Kamiakin WA): Offers: Washington State University Showed off her tenacity on the defensive end as she competed with consistency throughout the whole Combine. Wouldn’t be surprised if she picks up a few more offers soon.
2021 Tiara Bolden Tiara Bolden 5'9" | SG Churchill | 2021 State OR (Churchill OR) Interest: Juco/D-3/NAIA Put on a show by dazzling the crowd with a sweet stroke from the 3 Point range. Often known as a shooter but showed a lot more driving ability during the combine.
2021 Jaydia Martin Jaydia Martin 6'0" | SF Hudson's Bay | 2021 State WA (Hudson’s Bay WA) Interest: Montana Univ, EWU, Seattle Pacific , UC San Diego Probably the best overall talent at the Combine. Many coaches, scouts and staff were impressed with her talents. Being 6’0 and showed some ability to play the 1 through 4 makes her potential and ceiling high. She was able to create and make tough shots all day. Wouldn’t be surprised if you see her with an offer soon.
2024 Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam (Springfield OR) One of the most surprising talents at the combine. A late entry but she quickly proved why she belongs. With a big guard frame she was able to score on smaller guards in the paint but also stretch the floor with a near perfect form. Bright future ahead of her. We will follow her closely.
2021 Taylin Smith Taylin Smith 5'5" | PG Liberty | 2021 State OR (Liberty OR) Offers: D-2 Colorado at Colorado Springs Interest: UCSB and New Mexico St. Coming off an MVP Season and 1st Team 6A it was pretty obvious why she is arguably the best guard in the state of Oregon. Smooth ball handling skills with a scoring mentality that keeps her competitive for that next jump to college. Winner of 2 on 2 Challenge.
