The Class of 2023 is deep with perimeter players, and currently the point guard position is represented by 28 prospects who find it their job to take care of the basketball and initiate the offense. Below is a look at those 28 young ladies, as well as additional information on several of the newcomers and players who have risen significantly throughout the rankings since our last full update. We will be following up with each position group in the Class of 2023.
Newcomers
Yesterday I wrote an article touching on seven newcomers to the Class of 2023 rankings, but they were a mix of all positions. Highlighted in that article from the point guard position was
Gracie Kramer

all make their first appearances on our 2023 rankings list. Crews is a cerebral player with a nice all-around feel for the game, plus she plays with a really nice motor. Scott is the athletic talent of this group, as she is a stronger downhill type who looks to attack the basket off the bounce as much as possible. Vice and Boerema are kind of your scrappy, feisty, tough-nosed players who battle for every possession and don’t give an inch to opponents.
Stock-Risers
I will be adding an article very soon incorporating the top stock-risers in the Class of 2023, regardless of position. Included in that article from the point guard position will be both

all showed nice improvement in their games throughout the course of the Summer. Phillips has always been more of a scoring point guard, but in July she showed a lot more efficiency and the ability to find teammates, even through the smallest of windows. Girls like Gizzi and Barker…you could see them improve game to game and week to week, which says a lot about their cognitive abilities. They are tough-nosed and play with short memories when it comes to mistakes. Michael is a really nice athlete who has gone from being more of a wing scorer to now being able to create offense for both herself and teammates. And I’ve said it before, but Ward is kind of the unassuming kid who ends up quietly hurting opponents in the end with her ability to play highly efficiently, make shots, and not turn it over.
Final Thought
There are several really nice point guard prospects at the top of this list, but I think the value of this class is going to be at the lower Division-I levels and into the elite small college levels. This is a class where I think many Division-II, Division-III, and NAIA tournament type teams can find what they’re looking for in a point guard, because there are several really nice, intelligent, and skillful individuals in this point guard group, and the majority of them “fit” how a lot of the top Midwestern small colleges like to play. My gut tells me that quite a few of these girls have the potential to enter college and make an immediate impact for whichever program they choose in a couple of years.
