Let’s take a look at which returning New Jersey girls basketball players got to the foul line at a high clip a season ago.
Christy Brennan Christy Brennan 5'5" | PG Hopatcong | 2022 State NJ , Hopatcong, Jr. – Brennan was second in New Jersey in free throws with 189 – only trailing Lakeland’s Keira Marks’ 211. Brennan was a prolific scorer – putting in 559 points on the year – with 34 percent of her points coming at the free throw line. She had seven games with double-digit free throws (12, 11, 13, 10, 11, 12, 11). The junior put in her 1,000th career point a season ago. Brennan was aggressive on both ends and she’s looking for a major junior season for Hopatcong.
Casey Sullivan, Demarest, Jr. – Sullivan was another player who got to the foul line at will last season. The Demarest junior made 172 free throws, which was good for third-best in the Garden State. She finished with 491 points overall, meaning 35 percent of her season point total came at the stripe. Sullivan had an astounding 20 free throws in a game against Bergenfield last season, where she finished with 36 overall and Demarest came away with the win.
Keegan Douglas, Haddonfield, Sr. – Douglas was fourth in New Jersey last year with 152 made free throws. The Loyola commit had seven games with double-digit free throws. Douglas finished with 564 points on the year. About 27 percent of her points came at the line. She should be in contention for being a leader in free throws once again this season.
