For each range I have chosen who I think are the best shooters, rebounders, passers, and scorers – 5-6 players for each category – and identified what makes them successful. Here are the best senior rebounders ranked outside the top 50.
Katilyn Glathar Katilyn Glathar 5'9" | PF Humbolt - Table Rock - Steinauer | 2021 State NE – 5’9″ PF – Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer
Pulling down 11 rebounds per game as a junior. will get you on a list like this. Katilyn has a great understanding of leverage, and uses it well when battling down low. She uses her lower half to plant herself, and her arms to wall off others fighting for the rebound. Where she might lack some size, she has abundant energy to replace it.
Libbie Schaefer Libbie Schaefer 5'8" | PG Morrill | 2021 State NE – 5’8″ PG – Morrill
It is always a treat when I can label a guard as a top rebounder. Libbie averaged 6.8 rebounds per game last season for the Lions. Multiple efforts is a staple of Libbie’s game, and the main key to her rebounding success. As the shot goes up, you can see her hunt out its potential path and respond accordingly. Her intelligence as a player allows her to find rebounds among the trees.
Jayla Brehmer Jayla Brehmer 5'8" | PF Gordon-Rushville | 2021 State NE – 5’8″ PF – Gordon-Rushville
Jayla was featured in our Top Passers series, and now here she is making a case for one of the better rebounders in the 2021 class. At just over 8 rebounds per game last season, she showed a great ability to wall off opponents and keep her ground. It is hard to move Jayla off her mark, and with her great hands she snatches up available possessions as good as anyone.
Jeannina Blahak Jeannina Blahak 6'2" | PF Oakland-Craig | 2021 State NE – 6’2″ PF – Oakland-Craig
Jeannina flashed moments of great skill a year ago for Oakland-Craig. She was a steady player who averaged 6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. In her film, I see someone who can expand on those numbers and can become a more consistent and impactful player as a senior.
Samantha Moore Samantha Moore 6'0" | PF Mullen | 2021 State NE – 6’0″ PF – Mullen
Samantha has managed to make our Top Shooters and Top Passers series, and now she has another rung in her belt. The bottom line is that Samantha is a complete player. Her rebounding seems effortless, in the same way a lot of her on-court activity does. Her experience and basketball intelligence gets her in the right spot most times, and her skill takes care of the rest. If I had to predict, she will surpass her rebounding total of 114 as a junior.
