For each range I have chosen who I think are the best shooters, rebounders, passers, and scorers – 5-6 players for each category – and identified what makes them successful. Here are the best senior scorers ranked outside the top 50.
Taryn Wagner Taryn Wagner 5'6" | SG Central City | 2021 State NE – 5’6″ SG – Central City
Taryn’s high and quick release allows her to get her shot off anywhere on the court. Defenders know this, so Taryn is able to threaten the shot, and then attack the closeout. For a 5’6″ guard, she can score at all 3 levels very nicely. Her versatile attack allows her to average the 13.5 points per game she did as a junior.
Jayla Brehmer Jayla Brehmer 5'8" | PF Gordon-Rushville | 2021 State NE – 5’8″ PF – Gordon-Rushville
Jayla brings a serviceable 3-point shot (24% from three in 2019-2020) to a powerful game down low. As mentioned in her Top Rebounders profile, she is hard to move off of her mark, and that absolutely applies on offense. She can wall off defenders who try and bother her rhythm. She is relentless when fighting for position and uses it well when she earns it.
Samantha Moore Samantha Moore 6'0" | PF Mullen | 2021 State NE – 6’0″ PF – Mullen
For Mullen last season, Samantha poured in 17 points per game while shooting 43% from the field and 31% from 3-point range. She took 7 threes per game, but I’d like that to increase to 8.5-9 per game for her senior season. She has an excellent shooting stroke and should really let it fly for Mullen.
Rachel Ecklund Rachel Ecklund 5'10" | PG Overton | 2021 State NE – 5’10″ PG – Overton
Rachel is a very solid scorer at all three levels. She has a step-back jumper that she can use to get defenders leaning and create space. I very much enjoy her energy on offense when she is off-ball. She constantly moves and understands how and when to cut through the lane. She really improved her ball-handling last season and has a nice crossover in her arsenal.
Alyssa Eichelberger Alyssa Eichelberger 5'8" | PG O'Neill | 2021 State NE – 5’8″ PG – O’Neill
Nearly 13 points per game for O’Neill, Alyssa put together a well-rounded junior campaign. When shooting off the catch, she is readying her lower-half and almost beginning her shooting motion before the ball is in her hands. She does a great job of preparing to shoot. She has an excellent handle, and can get to the rim almost at will. She can shoot well enough from distance but her best offensive weapon is attacking the basket.
Katilyn Glathar Katilyn Glathar 5'9" | PF Humbolt - Table Rock - Steinauer | 2021 State NE – 5’9″ PF – Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer
Katilyn is not going to stretch the floor for you like some of the other forwards mentioned, but she is incredibly efficient inside the arc. Shooting 49% from the field as a junior, Katilyn showcased a variety of moves to spring free for buckets. If she could space enough to hit jumpers around the free throw line, it could open up a whole new aspect to her game as a pick and pop big.
