Madison Moudy-5’9 (Brock HS) @madisonmoudy
Moudy was one of the new faces that just “set it off” early as she showed me the long ball to open the event up. I enjoyed watching her not only create her shot but do it while being guarded tightly as well as double-teamed down the stretch, She has good size, good form and a quick release, all the makings of falling into that category “college coaches love big guards that can shoot” and her pull is smooth, she has very good range plus she can take defenders off the dribble
Adryan Alvarez-5’5 (Dell Valle HS) @AlvarezAdryan
Alvarez is smooth and calm, plays within herself, and initially showed she could fill in many blanks that may not necessarily show up on a scoresheet, and then it happened, she dropped one from the baseline, then the top of the key, and her mixture of mid to long-range jumpers, yes she has a pull-up that’s sweet but she did it in the halfcourt or the stop and pop in transition. She understands how to set defenders up, did a good job of handling the ball which also enabled her to attack the basket
Ravyn Ellis-5’8 (Bellaire HS) @RavynEllis2021
Ellis isn’t a new face yet she’s been on a tear at every event and I’m certain she’s knocked some net loops, well rings but you get the picture, and speaking of pictures, her jumper is about as picture perfect as there as she elevates over defenders and releases it at the right moment so her dropping a variety of mid to long-range jumpers wasn’t a surprise, her doing it while being defended wasn’t either but her body control on some of those shots are still playing in my head
Aryauna Kirk-5’7 (Guyer HS)
Not sure if Kirk is related to Captain yet some of those shots were dropping from outer space as she beamed them from everywhere. I like the creativity, it also helped her mix it up by attacking or showing a slight change of pace but her numerous ways to get to the basket made the defense stay honest and not back off of her because when they did, it was money each time I passed her court. She handles the ball and applies pressure on defense yet she rebounded
Mary Jo Parker-5’9 (Slaton HS)
Parker with pull-up, it’s playing over and over in my head as well and the thing about guards with size being able to shoot the midrange is a hot commodity for the next level, I’ve stressed that over as I watch players and events and she showed a knack for understanding how to make the defense pay. She can put it on the floor and attack the basket or handle it in the open court but in either situation, she also did a good job at seeing the floor and hitting teammates
