Taylor Jarrels Taylor Jarrels 5'8" | SG Lamar Consolidated | 2021 State TX -5’8 (Lamar Consolidated HS) @TaylorJarrels
Jarrells has had me doing the SMH all season, I knew she was a good player yet I didn’t realize how good she was, especially at shooting, understanding how to create her shot and when to take her shot and her performance of dropping the stop and pop, the mid range, the fadeaway as well as taking defenders with at will was on full display at the Top 250 but how can I leave out the long ball. I can’t because it was dropping from every angle behind the arc
Crystal Smith Crystal Smith 5'7" | SG Tomkins | 2021 State TX -5’8 (Tompkins HS) @C1_Crystal_
Smith told me she was narrowing her options and based on her performance this season, it’s no surprise she has multiple offers yet she’s been in numerous events to catch the eyes of the right people, I’m talking about me right now and I have simply been amazed at her multiple ways to score. First of all, her floater as well as attacking the rim and defying gravity has been awesome but so has the stop and pop in transition from 12-15 feet, the HEZ to keep defenders off balance for the pull-up or the long ball whenever she wants to take it
Kirsten Dennis-5’8 (Desoto HS) @fvmousk7d
Dennis was a pleasant surprise because she understood how to let it come to her and seize the opportunity when it was there yet her ability to create her shot, while being defended definitely stood out as well as her pull-up jumper. She has good size and athleticism so that added to her being able to get her shot off while being guarded tightly, she mixed it up by attacking the basket and finishing strongly yet she also showed she could down the long ball
Kalila Fambro Kalila Fambro 5'11" | SG Southlake Carroll | 2021 State TX -5’11 (Southlake Carroll HS) @KalilaFambro
Fambro had a bag of tools to work with starting with that “long and athletic” I constantly remind those who may not know, is the base to start with and one of those things she started with off the top was playing the passing lane which led to layups galore as she handled the ball very well in the open court. She created her shot very well under pressure, her length and athleticism helped her get her shot off whenever she wanted against whoever she wanted so watching her drop multiple mid and long-range jumpers throughout the event told me a lot
Hannah Humphrey Hannah Humphrey 5'7" | SG Lamar Consolidated | 2021 State TX -5’8 (Lamar Consolidated HS) @ttheylovehannah
Humphrey got me going with a shooting exhibition a few months ago and hasn’t let up but everything was on full display at the Top 250. Her midrange is hard to deal with, she elevates strongly and her shot is smooth but she understands how to maneuver with the ball to get her shot off or without the ball to get open for the shot, that’s pretty big yet so was her mixing it up to attack the rim numerous times as she finished with contact or drop the mid to long-range
