For each range I have chosen who I think are the best shooters, rebounders, passers, and scorers – 5-6 players for each category – and identified what makes them successful. Here are the best senior shooters in the top 25.
Grace Cave Grace Cave 5'6" | PG Weeping Water | 2021 State NE – Weeping Water
Position: PG Height: 5’6″ 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 18.6/x/5
Grace is an elite offensive player who can beat you in multiple ways at multiple levels. She has discovered new abilities as a scorer, especially shooting off the dribble. This skill allows her to score from any spot, not being limited to catch and shoot jumpers or layups. She shot fifty percent from the field, forty percent from three, and seventy-eight percent from the free throw line a season ago, which shows she is able to utilize her newfound skills with confidence and consistency.
CeCe Hacker CeCe Hacker 5'8" | PG Omaha Marion | 2021 State NE – Marion
Position: PG Height: 5’8″ 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 15.1/3.2/1.3
With her strong and adaptable lower-half, CeCe can hit shots with her body leaning or her feet off-target. Among the common hoops statistics, I believe free-throw percentage to be the best indicator of shooting ability, and CeCe hit ninety percent of her free ones as a junior. She has nice footwork in and around the paint which helps get up and into her shot on balance, even when she isn’t completely vertical.
Brianna Stai Brianna Stai 6'0" | PF Norris | 2021 State NE – Norris
Position: PF Height: 6’0″ 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 13.3/5.5/0.8
Brianna is an excellent off-ball shooting threat, and one of the most dangerous floor spacers in the state. She certainly has an inside game, but she can run around a pindown or flare screen and is always ready for the ball. She doesn’t jump much in her shot, so having an upper- and lower-half at the ready is crucial for getting her shot off.
Charli Earth Charli Earth 5'9" | PF Fremont | 2021 State NE – Fremont
Position: PF Height: 5’9″ 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 10/5.9/1.7
Charli is one of the better catch and shoot threats I’ve scouted in this class. As a spot-up shooter she is very reliable, but I am more impressed with her ability to run and cut and then catch and shoot. She prepares her footwork before the ball arrives, and she is able to sequence the rest of the body well through the follow-through. Her size allows her to create space with some small bumps, and her high-release helps create the remaining space needed.
Kyra Fischer Kyra Fischer 5'9" | PF South Sioux City | 2021 State NE – South Sioux City
Position: PF Height: 5’9″ 2019-2020 Pts./Reb./Ast.: 14/4.4/4
As an off-the-dribble threat for the Cardinals, Kyra proved difficult to contain. She has ironed out the footwork on her perimeter stepback jumper which is deadly on its own. As defenders played her more for the outside shot as the game, or season, progressed, she was able to punish the aggression with hesitation dribbles and more solid footwork. She creates issues for defenses when defending her pick and roll, because unless you consistently go over that screen, she will take and make the three at a good clip.
