Raylee Cave-5’8 SG (Princeton HS) @raylee_cave2022
Cave used her athleticism extremely well and that along with her ability to create her shot made her hard to stay in front of. She has a deceptive first step that kept defenders leaning and watching her slice by them from a variety of angles to finish numerous times showed she understood how to set them up but what also helped her was the pull-up jumper, she knocked it down consistently and that kept the defense honest so they weren’t able to back off
June Chatterley-5’8 SG (Aubrey HS) @junerchatterley
Chatterley did a good job confusing defenders with a slight hesitation that she used to attack the rim from the left or right while finishing with both ends. It helped that she has good body control and was able to “stay with it” after contact but helped, even more, was that she could shoot it, and watching her create her shot in the half-court for the pull-up midrange definitely gave her options but what gave her even more options was when she showed she could knock the long ball down
Jordan Parker-5’6 G (Longview HS)
Parker picked her spots and showed she was more than serviceable and she also showed she played bigger than her listed 5’6 by battling on the inside for rebounds and putbacks but not only did she win many of the battles, the putbacks after the licks were even more impressive but she showed more on the defensive end, playing solidly in both the half and full-court but back tot he offense, she attacked from the wing numerous times and got to the basket for baskets
Ayonna Naylor-5’8 PF (Lewisville HS)
Naylor showed some #THROWBACK beastlike stuff when 5’8 power forwards that could create some problems were plentiful yet you can’t teach desire and the willingness or mindset of not being outworked. It helps that she has a strong body and she’s physical but it also helps and that she doesn’t shy away from contact and attacks the basket relentlessly with players glued to her at times but her defense is also physical, she can tire players out in the paint or outside of it yet watching her numerous putbacks over taller players took me back to yesteryear
Holly Schuelke-5’10 SF (All Saints Episcopal School) @holly_schuelke1
Schuelke was athletic, I mean really athletic, and watching her strides in the open court caught my attention early as she understood how to make things happen offensively. She takes off on the break, she filled the lanes nicely and once she got the ball she was gliding to the rim yet she also showed she could create in the halfcourt and do the same thing using that long first step to get by the defender and finishing with ease
Alexander Steele-5’10 SF (Flower Mound HS) @Steelea25
Steele stole the show early, she’s long and athletic, shall I stop, no because she didn’t and remember that’s the base so yeah she plays the passing lane and turns those steals into layups but I also liked her poise as she stayed focus when she knew the foul was coming yet it didn’t faze her one bit. She also did a good job of handling the ball in the halfcourt, that also helped enable her to create her and attack
