Abbie Boutilier Abbie Boutilier 6'9" | PF Flower Mound | 2023 State TX -6’8 P (Flower Mound HS) @abbiebout2023
Boutlier is showing size does matter when you can actually get the ball and the numerous times she’s getting opportunities, especially at this event tells me this will help, not only with her confidence as she knows she can score but with her mindset as time progresses about being virtually unstoppable at this level. She’s become more agile, is running the floor better and moving around on the defensive end but seeing her not only score rebound but face the basket and score will have her and her 80 inches on several college coaches shortlists
Kya Bradshaw-5’9 SF (The Colony HS) @kyabrad
Bradshaw is here we go, long and athletic and again, that’s the base and she uses that base very nicely because she plays the passing lane, can handle the ball in the open court and this led to many layups after the steal yet she also showed she could make the pass in the open court. In the half-court setting, she created her shot and used her long strides to get by defenders with ease but that same creating her shot showed a nice pull-up jumper from the midrange
Alexis Cortez Alexis Cortez 5'10" | SF Allen | 2023 State TX -5’11 SF (Allen HS) @aalexiscortez
Cortez just keeps getting better every time I see her and I called her a #D1Lock before high school, let’s drop #BCS and throw away the key because she is not only playing the game but she’s thinking the game and being a vocal leader, without the ball is an intangible you can’t teach yet with the ball, she takes defenders at will and is an “and one” waiting to happen. Her pull-up jumper is smooth, she rebounds on both ends of the floor and her defense in the half or full court is more than solid
Nia Santiago-5’9 SG (Rockwall HS) @iamniasantiago
Santiago showed me what I already knew right off the top, she can take over a game just like that. She’s also long and athletic and usually lets everything come to her, getting hers in the flow isn’t a bad thing yet understanding what you’re working with is better and her offensive tools are abundant. She has a stop and pop in the open court, she creates off the dribble, either to attack or hit the pull-up, she plays the passing lane and can handle the ball and just to put the icing on the cake, she rebounds and defends
Amarachi Kimpson Amarachi Kimpson 5'7" | PG Little Elm | 2023 State TX -5’8 CG (Little Elm HS) @AmarachiSmoove_
Kimpson has been a clutch player since I first saw her in the 5th grade I believe and I knew she was a #D1Lock even them but over the years, she has grown, gotten stronger, and just makes those around her better because she can run the one with the best of them or she can play the two, with the best of them and her mid to long-range is one of her go-to offensive weapons because she sets the defense up so well and creates everything SMOOVELY yet her mindset is “you can’t stop me”
Ramsey Robledo-5’10 SF (Clark HS) @ramseyrobledo
Robledo showed me she was good when I first saw her yet I didn’t realize how poised and under control she was, here we go, she’s long and athletic and her first step is deceptive because it sets the defense up so well, either to attack or just elevate over them for the jumper which is smooth and consistent from mid to long-range. She can rebound and handle it coast to coast for baskets, she has good timing on defense to block shots but her defense has even taken off
Alysia McDaniel Alysia McDaniel 6'0" | PF Parish Episcopal | 2023 State TX -6’0 PF (Parish Episcopal HS) @allysia_m23
McDaniel was just on fire and I’m thinking “who is this” until she reminded me I just added her after watching her go completely off over the course of the club season. Strong body, she uses it well by attacking the rim or maneuvering around the basket with good hands and footwork. She rebounds on both ends and her putbacks with players hanging on her kept my attention but that midrange will add even more college options simply because it’s a lost art and she understands how to get to wherever she wants to nail it
Mackenzie Townsel Mackenzie Townsel 5'7" | PG Frisco | 2023 State TX -5’7 PG (Frisco HS)
Townsel added a little showtime with some dazzling ballhandling and nifty passes yet her ability to run a team was among the best at the event. She sees the floor very well and does a good job of getting the ball to the right people but watching her in the open court sort of makes you want to stand up because you know something is coming and if it wasn’t the pass, it was the pull-up, from mid to long-range but on top of that her ability to play the passing lane led to numerous baskets
