Continue ReadingLast Sunday – On October 11th, PrepGirlsHoops hosted their Arizona Top 250 Expo in Gilbert, AZ in which Arizona talent along with players from its bordering States played games all day long. There were eight teams in which scrimmaged other teams, as players were able to hone in and show off their varied skill sets in the most raw way possible in the form of simply playing the game. Along the way, there was several significant individual performances in which players stood out amongst the pack, so the speak as their paved their way towards MVP-like efforts not only for their teams, but for the camp themselves. There are some of the most significant performances over the weekend at the Arizona Top 250 Expo.
Kaisha Henry 2022 5’11″ PF Verrado HS – Forward with immense size who plays with a great force as she is incredibly productive on the glass with her tools. Plays well within the half court setting as a forward who can score but also in the transition as a point forward who can find others with her height. She was a technician down-low, finding the basket with ease on second chance points. Contributed 18 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal.
Maya Erling 2021 5’8″ SG Glacier Peak HS (Pictured)- Maya is a guard with a solid frame who has the uncanny ability, simply put, to put the ball into the basket. She has a sensational touch around ten to fifteen feet in an array of mini jumpers and floaters. Erling can hit them off-balance and her range extends to the three-point line. Was the most refined scorer in her game. She had 16 points and 6 rebounds in an excellent and efficient shooting display.
Nicole Evenson 2022 5’10″ PF Gilbert HS – Nicole is a forward with a solid frame who has a high motor on the boards, as she has a knack for hustling for offensive rebounds. Has a nice touch around the basket and can score with flair and style, as most of her points came within the paint. Good defender with quickness and awareness. Contributed 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in an excellent all out effort.
Ysabel Puente Ysabel Puente 5'7" | CG Dream City Christian | 2024 State AZ 2024 5’7″ SG Sunrise Mountain HS – Very dynamic guard who plays at a steady pace – making plays for herself and others around her. Incredibly active passer who knows how to thread the needle. She is a competitor who will do anything for her team, defending, rebounding etc. Slippery to the basket and can finish with strength and fluidity. Contributed 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assist, and 2 steals in a nice all around performance.
Nikkianna Kinsel 2022 5’3″ PG Westwood HS – Dynamic floor general who thrives in the half-court setting as both a cerebral and flashy passer who knows how to involve her bigs. She hit the go to three-pointer to single handedly win the game for her team at the end of regulation as they won 58 – 57. Contributed a 12 point, 2 rebound, 6 assist effort in which she was a clear difference maker as a primary ball handler who can get it done as a scorer.
Zari Watkins 2021 5’4″ Valley Vista HS – She came out the gates swinging as an undersized guard who plays at a blistering pace and has great change of speed when the ball is in her hands. She sank two back to back significant three’s at the end of the game to keep her team in it, including one which gave them the lead before the last possession. Finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists as a spark plug offensively for her team.
