The OGBR Top 64 featured over 300 standouts, playing in front of D2, D3 and NAIA head coaches, while many more D1 coaches watched via live stream. This week – we look at many of the day’s top performers – some who you most likely already know and others who made a name for themselves on Sunday.
Jewel Watkins – 5’10 Forward – Whitehall – Class of 2021
Although Jewel is listed at 5’10 – she seems to have the wingspan of someone who is well-over 6-feet tall. Watkins can defend every position on the floor and loves to do so. She is particularly effective defending the pick-and-roll, in capable of shutting the offense down in a variety of coverages. Offensively, she is a leaper with nice touch from the mid-range and in.
Emily Siesel – 5’7 Guard – Buckeye Central – Class of 2022
Siesel showed an impressive skill set on Sunday. A solid ball-handler, Siesel plays with a high IQ, rarely making mistakes and constantly making good decisions. She is a good shooter who is more than capable of creating off of the bounce and finishing at the rim.
Mari Bickley Mari Bickley 5'10" | PG Shaker Heights Laurel | 2023 State #20 Nation OH – 5’10 Guard – Laurel – Class of 2023
Mari – who many think is Ohio’s top player in the Class of 2023 – was a 1-woman highlight film at the Top 64. Her handles are devastating for defenders and her toolbox seems even more developed than the last time we saw her at an OGBR event. Outstanding as a playmaker, Bickley gets into the lane and breaks down defenses at will.
Kamryn Grant – 5’11 Wing – Africentric – Class of 2024
Grant (pictured above) is an absolute star. Her athleticism is scary – it’s crazy to think that she hasn’t played a game of HS ball yet. Her ability to get out in transition and finish with both hands is special. She is a good rebounder who competes hard defensively, blocking a number of shots and creating turnovers for her team at a high rate.
Komara Sylvester – 5’7 Guard – Rogers – Class of 2024
Sylvester is a truly explosive scorer off of the bounce. She is crafty, with special handles – regardless of what hand she is using on a given possession. As a defender guarding her – it’s very tough to keep Komara in front. If she develops a consistent jumper – she is going to be an elite scoring threat.
