The girls are all players for the Brad Beal Elite organization and are coming off a strong summer session. Here is a breakdown of their talents that were on display in Louisville.
Kayla Sullivan Kayla Sullivan 5'10" | SF Lutheran North | 2023 State MOKayla is a 5’10 2023 Wing from Lutheran North. She has a very unique set of skills in that she has a nice game on the perimeter but she is also strong enough to cause damage in the paint too. In the time that I watched Kayla she had a defensive rebound coast to coast and finished with a soft runner from about 6ft and then stepped into the passing lane on defense and got a steal that led to a run out for a teammate. Shortly after that she drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key and then got an offensive board and finished with her off hand. It shows you a lot about a player when then attend events like this and affect the game through defense and rebounding, not just scoring. Kayla is a player to watch.
JaNyla Bush JaNyla Bush 5'4" | PG Link Academy | 2024 State MOJanyla is a 5’4 2024 Point Guard from Whitfield. Janyla is a true point guard that can handle and pass with the flair and precision you look for from that position. I really enjoyed watching her grit and toughness at the Top 250 Expo. In an open court game like is played at these events rebounds are open to whomever wants to go get them and Janyla wanted them. She was able to start the break by pulling rebounds away from less motivated players and get the ball moving the other way. When she does get on the move in the full court she has her head up and can find her way through traffic until she finds the open player to pass the ball ahead. Janyla is not just a facilitator, she can score in the lane and had her 3-point shot on display in Louisville too. This young lady will have a very good high school career playing with talent around her and is one for college coaches to watch.
Treazure Jackson Treazure Jackson 5'10" | SF Whitfield | 2023 State MO
Treazure is a 5’9 2023 Wing from Whitfield. Treazure is another explosive athlete that has shown the ability to contribute in many different ways on the floor. She can use that quick first step to beat a defender and put pressure on the defensive team to make decisions to help or not help. Treazure does a very good job of reading the defense and taking advantage of her options. You can see via live action or game tape that she is comfortable taking on contact and still finishing in the lane. Defensively she is very adept at using her gifts to harass her opponent. It may be keeping the ball out of the lane, it may be blocking a shot or most likely it is jumping on weak passes and loose balls to garner turnovers and turn it into offense. Treazure is a tireless worker that spends the time to try to improve her game and master the small skills that it takes to play at the top levels. I look for her to use her high motor to continue to progress in her game.
Tkiyah Nelson Tkiyah Nelson 5'10" | CG Whitfield | 2023 State MO
Te Te is a 5’10 2023 Wing from Whitfield. She is an interesting player that draws attention for her many different talents. Te Te is very long and athletic so first and foremost she can defend and rebound well, despite her thin frame. She can jump and is very quick. To say she has the physical tools to excel at the game is likely a bit of an understatement. Her basketball skills lag a little bit behind her physical tools but they are coming. Te Te handles the ball well and can slash through the lane to the rim and finish. While her face may not portrait it, Te Te is a player that brings toughness and attitude to the game. She will get rebounds and tough inside baskets just based on her refusal to quit or back down. As Te Te perfects her outside shot even more she will be able to take her game to another level. She is an exciting kid that should be fun to watch over the next 3 years.
Jasmine Gray Jasmine Gray 5'9" | CG Pattonville | 2023 State MO
Jasmine is a 5’8 2023 Guard that had a nice freshman campaign at Hazelwood West and will be playing at Pattonville this year. Jasmine is very quick with the ball in her hands and is an excellent passer. She stuffed the stats bucket as a freshman averaging 7pts, 4 reb, 2.5 assists and 3 steals per game. Jasmine excels in transition where she can use her speed to combine with her ball skills and decision making. As an on ball defender she does an excellent job of keeping the offense uncomfortable and mistake prone. Jasmine will then use this state of mind to take advantage of sloppy passes or dribbling to create steals. Jasmine does a good job of scoring in the paint when the opportunities are presented and will often beat everyone down the floor on the break to score at the rim.
