All of these girls showed the capacity to contribute on the floor and have the ability to help out a college program if they continue to improve their game.
- Teja Tsangarakis is a 5’5 2021 Guard from Chaparral. Teja had a nice day showing off her well rounded game. In an open court 5 out type of game a team needs players that will go get rebounds. Despite her smaller size Teja showed the capacity to go find the ball off the boards and immediately start the transition game. Teja did a good job of looking up the floor to advance the ball without dribbling. In the half court set she showed a nice jumpshot and the ability to read the floor off a drive or pick and roll. She is a prospect that should be watched by D3 and lower level NAIA schools.
- J’Unti Franklin is a 5’7 2022 Guard from Lincoln. J’Unti showed off a variety of moves that come straight from the high level playbook of top players in the game. Step backs, side steps, combination dribble moves into a variety of finishing moves and deep jumpers. But, that is not what impressed me. She did show flashes of a high powered offensive game, but I think her true potential is in her defense. J’Unti has very long arms and the quickness and agility to be a lockdown defender. She showed quick hands and the ability to jump high and get off the floor quickly. J’Unti has a nice future in the game, especially if she focuses on the little things. Her ceiling will be shaped based on the next 12 months of game and skill development.
- Trumyne Lee is a 5’10 2022 Forward from Lincoln Southwest. Trumyne is a long and active 3/4 that can contribute in many ways. Her game seems to be very fundamental in nature, especially on the defensive end. Trumyne does a good job in help side defense in hedging on a player penetrating with the ball to slow them down with making a full commitment to help and leaving her player open. Her hands are always high when she is guarding someone in the paint which makes any attempt to get a clean shot that much tougher. Offensively she show nice shot fakes from the 3-point line which led to straight line drives to the hoop for clean looks. This forward is another player for recruiters to watch over the next 12 months as she tries to carve out her niche.
- Elayna Chafee is a 5’9 2022 Guard from Kelly Walsh in Casper. WY. Elayna was a steady force all day long pushing the ball up the floor. She has nice length and was very active on the defensive boards. Once she secured the rebound she was off to the races showing nice agility and ball handling weaving through traffic on the break. Elayna finished many plays herself but is a willing passer too. She displayed nice effort and energy on both ends. She is a bit of an unknown at this point but I would recommend college coaches take a look to see how her junior campaign goes.
- Raegan Halliday is a 5’7 2022 Wing from Olathe South, KS. Raegan was a fun player to watch because she makes the little plays that often go under the radar. She is not going to have the ball in her hands often and she is not likely to make a remarkable play that will catch everyone’s eye. But she will battle on the boards, she will set screens and she will make smart passes. Raegan had a nice drive and finish with her left hand and scored off the offensive boards, so she can and will score. But, she is smart enough to pick her spots and make her stamp on the game in other ways.
- Sydney Hybertson is a 5’8 2022 Wing from Harrisburg, SD. Sydney had a nice day showing what she could do on the floor. She is a very smart player that has obviously worked hard on her game. Sydney is not an overly athletic player but she gets production by having a high level of intelligence and feel for her game. She has obviously worked hard to properly read closeouts when she catches the ball behind the three-point line. Most of the time the closeouts were too aggressive and she took the opportunity to penetrate and score in the lane. She can hit the 3 if left open and had that on display too. Sydney is physically strong and that plays well in her ability to pass the ball with one hand easily and also in boxing out. Harrisburg has had a strong program and will need Sydney to show these same skills as she works her way into more minutes and more responsibility her last two seasons.
