While for the most part, they did not put up the flashiest numbers, they did a great job protecting the rim and, as is the focus of this article, pulling down rebounds. Post players were particularly dominant on the boards Sunday, and as such, they deserve this particular recognition.
Rachel Presley Rachel Presley 6'2" | C South Laurel | 2022 State KY , South Laurel- One of the state’s top inside players, Presley looked like the most well-rounded post player on Sunday. She grabbed rebounds at a tremendous rate on both ends, protected the rim, and did a good job drawing contact on the offensive end.
Kennedy Lee, DuPont Manual- Another one of the top interior players in the state, Lee had a great day inside on Sunday as well. Her rebounding was probably her skill most on display, as her combination of size and athleticism makes her tough to beat in that area.
Gracie Merkel, Bullitt East- Merkle’s size is overwhelming on the inside, especially on the defensive end, where she puts in most of her effort. She is able to gobble up any rebound that comes near her and does a good job putting herself in position to grab missed shots, even though her mobility is lacking. She also defended the rim to the point that opposing players simply could not challenge her.
Wanda Stevenson, Central- While not as much of a top prospect as the others on this list, Stevenson showed herself to be a significant inside presence on Sunday. She has good size and athleticism and did as good of a job grabbing rebounds and generally playing well inside as anyone else on the court.
Meadow Tisdale Meadow Tisdale 5'10" | PF Bowling Green | 2023 State KY , Bowling Green- Yet another great inside player, Tisdale did a great job pulling down boards just like her colleagues. While her size doesn’t stand out above the rest, Tisdale showed great toughness and skill in battling for rebounds, and as one of the state’s top interior players did a great job.
Riley Neal Riley Neal 5'11" | SF North Oldham | 2022 State KY , North Oldham- One of the best overall performers from the expo, Neal excelled in many areas. Rebounding was certainly one of those areas, as Neal used her good length, athleticism, and hustle to pull down more than her fair share of boards.
