This was the first time running the event in Michigan, and the girls Top 250 was a huge success. I will name a class of 2021 Most Outstanding Player and Honorable Mentions from the event. Keep in mind, it’s impossible for me to see every moment, of every athlete, in every game played. This is strictly relegated to what I witnessed and some input from coaches.
HONORABLE MENTIOINS
Emily Dixon Emily Dixon PF Chippewa Valley | 2021 State MI (6-1, F/C, Chippewa Valley)
Dixon made a statement as a high level post player. Her defense, as expected, highlighted her game. Dixon is a smart post defender that understands help side defense.
Mackenzie Egger Mackenzie Egger PG Mt. Pleasant | 2021 State MI (5-11, G, Mt. Pleasant)
Egger was absolutely phenomenal at the Top 250. She showed the ability to score from all 3 levels and defend multiple positions. Egger was one of the toughest players at the event.
Ndidiamaka Ndukwe Ndidiamaka Ndukwe 5'10" | SF Summit Academy | 2021 State MI (5-11, F, Summit Academy)
Ndukwe is a big time athlete on the wing. She was nearly unstoppable when fed the ball in motion on the wing. She used her strength and athleticism to create lanes to the rim.
India Respress India Respress SF Chandler Park | 2021 State MI (5-8, G, Chandler Park)
Respress was great on the defensive end, as we’ve come to expect from her. She showed some other parts of her game though as well. Respress was very comfortable playing from the corners and showed 3 point range from there as well.
Brooklyn Robak Brooklyn Robak SG Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes | 2021 State MI (5-8, G, Waterford Our Lady Of The Lakes)
Robak is going to have a monster senior season. She’s constantly contributing and her basketball IQ is through the roof. It’s really tough to find a glaring weakness in her game.
Kayiona Willis Kayiona Willis PG Southfield A&T | 2021 State MI (5-5, G, Southfield A & T)
Willis came to play on Sunday. From the opening tip, she was ready to attack. Needless to say, aggressiveness was the name of her game. Every dribble had a purpose and she used it to attack the D.
MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER
Kenzie Bowers Kenzie Bowers 5'10" | PG Kent City | 2021 State MI (5-9, G, Kent City)
The Illinois State commit showed why she’s been considered a top prospect in Michigan. She was so comfortable in every spot on the floor and never seemed pressured or impatient with the ball. Her calm on court demeanor transfers to her teammates as well. Bowers understood when to attack and when to feed to a teammate, which is a tough thig to do in a showcase setting. Fans of the game need to get out and watch Bowers play during high school season.
