Today, I will look at some of the kids who saw their stock rise in the latest ranking update from mostly the Southwest Ohio region along with one from the Columbus area.
Stay tuned for many more looks at the top players in Ohio over the rest of the month of October.
Quantaijah Huffman Quantaijah Huffman 5'8" | PG Trotwood Madison | 2021 State OH , 5-8 G, Trotwood Madison
One kid who saw her stock rise from the Watch List into the top 40 is a young lady known simply as Q. Huffman was outside the ranked players and lands at #37 in the latest update. The Alabama A&M recruit has really opened the eyes of a lot of basketball people in Ohio with her incredible all around talent. Not only is she electric in the open floor, she is able to score from all three phases. Has the ability to score from beyond the arc, hit the midrange shot or get to the rim with a great first step. Solid defender who can turn the game around with her work ethic.
Leah Butterbaugh Leah Butterbaugh 5'10" | CG Waynesville | 2021 State OH , 5-10 SG, Waynesville
Electric shooting guard/small forward who can play multiple positions on the court. She has a very strong basketball IQ and a nose for being around the ball. Leah has excellent handles with both hands, can also get to the rim and score from either side. Sees the court well, can get her teammates involved to making the best play for her team. Gritty player who plays with emotion and does what it takes for her team to win. Leah moves into the Top 50 at #44 as the season begins and is headed to Hartford.
Kathleen Ahner Kathleen Ahner 5'8" | CG Legacy Christian Academy | 2021 OH , 5-8 G, Legacy Christian
One thing I have always liked about her game is her desire to make plays for her team. Gets after the ball, will play physical if needed and can defend many positions. Kathleen is a great scorer who can put the ball in the basket from either beyond the arc, or slashes in the paint and finished against any defender. Can handle the ball well with both hands, sees the open floor and will get the ball to her teammates for a better shot. Kathleen also debuts in the Top 50 during this update at #48 off the Watch List last summer.
Brianna O’Connor Brianna O’Connor 5'8" | CG Hilliard Davidson | 2021 OH , 5-8 CG, Hillard Davidson
All she wants to do is continue to get better every time she touches a basketball. This multi-talented combo guard can run the floor with the best of them, score in transition with either hand, or beat you with her perimeter game. Her desire to improve shows her love of the game. Defensively she can guard multiple positions, has a smart basketball IQ and is still undecided on where she will play at the next level. Makes her debut in the Top 50 at #50 moving up from the Watch List in the last update.
Baylee Jones Baylee Jones 5'10" | CG Western Brown | 2021 State OH , 5-10 SG, Western Brown
One look at her game and it’s not hard to understand why she will be taking her game to the Division 1 level. She is headed to Lipscomb but first she looks forward to a great senior season. Love the way Baylee can open a game from the perimeter, but that is not her only tool. She has exceptional ball movement ability, can move well without the ball, utilize her athletic ability to create her own shot. Impressive player who debuts at #45 in the latest rankings.
