The Reason For The Top 250 – Part 1
Madisen Wardell Madisen Wardell 6'0" | PF Detroit Edison | 2022 State MI (2022, PF, Detroit Edison)
Wardell is an elite talent in Michigan and plays for one of the top high school programs in the country. Why the Top 250? She’s a D1 next level player that deserves to get her due, that’s why. I don’t think enough people, state or nation wide, know exactly how good she is. After she flaunted her athleticism and versatility by doing it all at the event…..everyone knows.
DeAndrea Smith (2023, SG, Flint Carman-Ainsworth)
Sometimes players need or want to send a message to the competition. Smith did just that. She put Michigan on notice. The smooth athlete attacked the rim from everywhere. She finished at the bucket, hit runners, and buried triples. Smith could be a must see prospect over the next few years.
Alexus Dunn (2024, SG, Greenville)
It’s nice for incoming freshman to see how their games compare to some big time high school players. Dunn was able to see that in Grand Rapids? What exactly did she see? See saw that her game is right there. She can shoot and handle with the greats. This tells us, and her, that her potential as a big time player and prospect is there and very real.
Olivia Bussell (2022, G, Monroe)
Players may just need a college coach to see 1 thing. 1 aspect of their game that makes them a valuable next level prospect. Coaches and scouts saw 2 things. First, her hustle was off the charts. With that kind of grind, there’s no way that she’s not making a difference in the game. Secondly, her speed is elite. If a coach is looking for speed in the backcourt, Bussell proved at the Top 250 that she can be that player.
Kara Bartels Kara Bartels 6'3" | PF Zeeland West | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Zeeland West)
The Top 250 is a great place for scouts and coaches alike to see talent that, for whatever reason, they just hadn’t seen as much as they wanted. That was the case for me as a scout with Bartels. She certainly didn’t disappoint. Her post footwork was phenomenal on both ends. I really loved the way that Bartels ran the floor and made herself a threat in transition.
