EWU Keep In-State Commitments Rolling
Eastern Washington has been recruiting heavily from its own state for the last couple years and the trend is continuing in the class of 2021. Earlier in the year, the Eagles picked up a verbal from Lewis and Clark High School point guard Andie Zylak Andie Zylak 5'7" | PG Lewis and Clark | 2021 State WA . This pickup was huge for EWU as they kept a Spokane area standout right at home, just 40 minutes from Cheney. The Eagles received more good news as 2021 6’0 power forward Jaydia Martin Jaydia Martin 6'0" | SF Hudson's Bay | 2021 State WA pledged to the home state school. The star of Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, Washington was a late bloomer in recruitment, but EWU got in at the right time and made enough of an impression to get her to go ahead and commit. Martin is strong, athletic and a potentially versatile weapon at the forward position at the next level. Martin and Zylak rank as the number 10 and 16 prospects overall in the state for their respective class.
SPU Tabs In-State Prospect
Seattle Pacific has been on their own solid run in the 2021 class recently attaining Pacific Northwest talent. 2021 6’3 P Schuyler Berry (Grant HS-OR) committed late last month in a potential steal and the Falcons followed that up with their most recent commit, Jalena Carlisle Jalena Carlisle 5'11" | SG Camas | 2021 State WA (Camas HS). The 5’11 shooting guard made her public announcement via social media that she will be attending SPU for the next four years. Carlisle is a tall guard with a good all around offensive skill set that will translate well to the next level.
Brumfield Reels In Another Offer
The state’s top 2022 prospect, Drea Brumfield Drea Brumfield 6'2" | SF WF West | 2022 State #72 Nation WA , has been ahead of the curve with her recruitment, steadily picking up offers from a variety of Division 1 schools throughout the course of the last year. The latest school to offer the 6’2 wing is San Diego State University of the Mountain West Conference. Brumfield recently played in the ASGR Elite 24 game, while down in Houston with her Tree of Hope club team.
