The litany of talent that were on hand at the Grand Strand read like a who’s who of noteworthy players looking to maintain and sharpen their skills as the travel season nears its conclusion. Without further delay, here are a few players that were at the Top 250 Expo.
Ally Niles Ally Niles 5'6" | SG Carolina Forest | 2021 State SC – Carolina Forest High School – 2021 – One of the elements to this upcoming season that has to be exciting for Panthers coach Stacy Hughes is what will be in store for her star guard as she enters her final season at the preps level. Following a season where she went for over 11 points, almost five rebounds and nearly two assists per game, Niles has proved her value on both offense and defense for Carolina Forest. Hughes once called her the team’s “wild card” with a skillset that includes shooting and passing. Her play last season was a huge reason why the Panthers played brilliantly in conference play after struggling the first half of the season.
Yazmie Howard – Marion High School – 2022 – Howard is one of the many individual parts that make up the complete sum that was the Swamp Foxes last season. Her ability to get from one end of the floor to the other combined with driving to the hoop was a plus for Marion that finished with a 29-2 record – and a berth in last year’s 3A championship game. Also makes her free throws, can shoot threes, force opponents into turnovers and gets out in transition. Expect a big season from her as the Swamp Foxes look to continue its winning ways.
Zybreayziah Alexander Zybreayziah Alexander 5'10" | PF West Florence | 2022 State SC – West Florence High School – 2022 – There can be several players that when they play simply pass what is commonly referred to as an “eye test.” Alexander can do just that because there is a tenacity and vigor that she brings to her game. Alexander can not only get to the basket but she can finish strong around the rim as well. In addition, she is also a strong rebounder as well and is a threat on either end of the court. Alexander averaged more than 11 points and exactly eight rebounds per game in her sophomore season with the Knights.
