The Top 250 Expo was a huge success full of so many talented athletes. Each prospect brought something different to the floor and it was exciting to see how elite Wisconsin girls basketball is. Take a look at some of the breakdowns after watching each girl compete on Sunday, October 4th.
Kristina Ouimette | Lakeland Union 2025 | 6’0
Ouimette had an incredible showcase and for being a 2025 class prospect, she truly held her own. She’s already so developed with skills at every level of the game. She can shoot the ball from deep, handle it on the perimeter, attack from the outside and be a force in the paint. She will make an immediate impact when she gets into high school and her ceiling is so high. She displayed a high level of rebounding and ability to push the break in transition. Ouimette plays with great speed and is super mobile getting up and down the floor.
Meghan Schultz Meghan Schultz 6'4" | C New Berlin West | 2023 State WI | New Berlin West 2023 | 6’4
Schultz has phenomenal positional size and a high upside for being an impact player. She gets up and down the floor well and can certainly dominate in the paint. She has incredible mobility and movement for being 6’4. What she lacks in athleticism he makes up for with fundamentals. She showed a great drop-step move, and ability to turn and face on the block. She improved her face up game throughout the day and showed glimpses of being able to handle and attack from the pertimer. She can finish with either hand around the rim, which is imperative for a post player at the next level. I was impressed by Schultz ’decision making during the expo. She has great control for her size as well and ability to effectively pass out of the post.
Gabby Wilke Gabby Wilke 6'1" | PF Beaver Dam | 2024 State WI | Beaver Dam 2024 | 6’1
Wilke is a physically-advanced prospect with such a high ceiling. She knows how to use her body to overpower defenders when she gets into the lane. She will certainly develop into more of a wing player at the next level as she seems very comfortable with the ball in her hands on the pertimer. However right now she is such a force in the lane that it’s hard to imagine her being a sole wing player. She has so much strength already at her age and incredible footwork when her back is to the basket. Her physicality and athleticism also give her the ability to be a great defensive rebounder. She used her body to box-out well and then explode off two to grab rebounds powerfully with two hands. She has the ability to play positions 1-4 like I mentioned. Her offensive versatility is a major plus.
Abbie Dix Abbie Dix 5'11" | PF Brodhead | 2023 WI | Brodhead 2023 | 5’11
Dix is a prospect who will play inside and out for her team. She displayed a high level of basketball intelligence and decision making on the floor. She’s an athletic wing player with a great shooting stroke who is also a force inside the paint. Not necessarily a “post” position player but someone who makes noise when she ends up in the paint or on the block within the offense. She boasts explosiveness and a fiery play style in the open court; she consistently finishes with strength and utilizes her bounce to finish against contact. She slashes through the lane from the three point line well and has an effective fake and goes the opposite way. Her jumper has a clean release with a smooth rotation. Dix seems to be comfortable in hustle play situations and showed glimpse of speed chasing down boards at the Top 250 Expo.
Makiah Hawk | Sun Prairie 2023 | 6’1
Hawk proved to be a great talent on the offensive end. Her jump shot is very consistent and her ability to create plays off the cut is probably the best part of her game. The ball leaves her hands high above her hand, making it hard for the defender to contest fully. Hawk has great footwork off the dribble, which makes it easy for her to position herself in a place where she can pull up or use hesitation moves to get to the rim. She did well grabbing boards and finishing strong through the contact. She creates space for herself without dribbling as well which is very advanced. Hawk has a high upside for rebounding and blocking shots at the varsity level.
Audrey Deptula Audrey Deptula 6'0" | CG Middleton | 2023 State WI | Middleton 2023 | 5’11
Deptula was one of the most impressive and versatile players at the Top 250 Expo. She is a highly athletic wing/power forward combo that plays with great energy. She’s composed and confident already and it makes her even more intimidating on the floor. She has an impressive vertical leap and strong frame; she has a high ceiling for shot blocking and rebounding. She is a great driver toward the middle of the lane, and her slashing ability is arguably her best trait. Her athleticism takes over in the lane where she bullies defenders, fights through contact and draws foulds. Deptula also showed glimpses of phenomenal defensive versatility because of her combination of length, speed and skill. She should be able to defend on the perimeter consistently while still being able to hold her own in the post. She has great handles and is comfortable being a floor general and pushing the ball in transition.
Allison Hampel Allison Hampel 6'0" | PF Greenfield | 2023 State WI | Greenfield 2023 | 5’10
Hampel is a versatile talent who is developing in so many areas. She’s a great role player who brings many aspects to the game. She can rebound, score and get stops defensively. She’s a monster in transition and does well getting to the spot and finishing on the run. She has the confidence and skill to be a force on the petimert and seems to be adding some range to her game as well. She has great mobility and agility that will find her seeing a lot of minutes at the varsity level. She shows the potential to be an effective back-to-the-basket scorer because of her quickness on the block. She has a very elite two-footed hop step when she gets into the lane, this helps her generate life for her impressive leap and finish against taller defenders. She has good vision as well in the post and often finds teammates for open layups or shots. Her ball handling and guard skills are rapidly improving as well.
