In the COVID-19 2020 world we are living in, video and highlight films have become more and more prominent and important. We will be posting evaluations from the videos weekly. In Part 1 we take a look at the class of 2026.
Kailani Merrell Kailani Merrell 6'0" | PG Spruce Creek | 2026 State FL (East Coast United) 5’5 Guard
Young, tall, slender guard who is comfortable with ball in her hands vs pressure. She is a good decision maker who has solid court vision. Deep 3 point range with really good shooting form. Skilled guard who can handle the ball and finish with both the left and right hand. Has ability to get into the paint and create a shot for her teammate or score at the rim. Merrell is a very intriguing young prospect who has a high ceiling. She will be a prospect to follow over the next couple years to see how she continues to improve and her body fills out.
Jaelyn Housey Jaelyn Housey 5'9" | PG Nova | 2026 State FL (Florida Lady Huskies) 5’2 Guard
Scrappy, combo guard who can score. Love her confidence she plays with and desire to attack the rim in transition and open space. Like the energy and effort she plays with on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Has ability to knock it down from 3 but does the most damage getting into the paint and finishing at the rim. She is one of the most improved young players I have seen in South Florida in the past year and excited to see how game continue to grow and evolve over the years to come.
Taniyah Davis Taniyah Davis 5'8" | SF American Heritage | 2026 State FL (Florida Lady Huskies) 5’6 Wing
Immediately stands out with the combination of her size and perimeter skills for a young player still in middle school. She is a multiple tool offensive player that can knock down the open 3, get to the rim and score in traffic, and will give ball up to open player. Her size gives her a huge advantage as there are not many defenders that can affect her perimeter shooting or her finishing ability at the rim as she can just score over them. She reminds me of former Georgia Tech / South Carolina standout Kaela Davis at a young age.
Tatyana Campise-Pinkney Tatyana Campise-Pinkney 5'8" | CG Boca Raton | 2026 State FL (Florida Lady Huskies) 5’3 Guard
Strong, young, shooting guard who has a nice set shot from 3-point range. Has the ability to put the ball to the floor to get to the rim but her strength is catch and shoot from 3. She has a strong build for a young player her age. Plays hard on both ends of the floor.
