Mason landed one of the most improved recruits in Ohio as 6-foot-5 junior Kyla Oldacre Kyla Oldacre 6'5" | C Mason | 2022 State #42 Nation OH makes the move from Princeton over to play with the Comets this season. She is being looked at by several D1 schools, and has improved her game to be a big factor in the success over at her new school.
Lakota West has won or shared the conference title six straight years, so they will be the favorites again to win the league title. An improved Mason squad will be on their heels and Princeton looks to challenge with a solid squad returning.
Sycamore is a team who could make some noise this season with an improved team, and even through they were 1-5 against the three perennial powers in the league (Lakota West, Mason, Princeton), don’t count them out this season.
Five of the schools in this conference will get a real test to open their season as a part of the Journey to the Tourney season-opening event on opening weekend. All of these games will be held at Lakota West High School November 20-22. Sycamore will play Mercy-McAuley on Friday night, Lakota East battles Monroe on Saturday morning, Princeton battles Newark on Saturday while Mason and Lakota West plays twice. 2 of the top 3 ranked 2023 players in the latest PGH Ohio rankings both play in this conference and will battle twice this season. Margo Mattes Margo Mattes 5'11" | CG OH (#2, Mason) and Sole Williams Sole Williams 5'7" | CG Cincinnati Princeton | 2023 State OH (#3, Princeton) will be out to lead their teams toward a GMC title this season.
Terry Toliver, a longtime Dayton area AAU and high school basketball coach, takes over the head coaching position at Middletown High School. The Middies finished 5-18 overall last season and was second from the bottom in the conference. Toliver looks to turn things around with his new school.
