Several teams and players from across the country were in attendance, including a few from Southern California. Here’s a look at some additional SoCal talent who took part in the event.
1. Athena Tomlinson – Clovis West 2024
Tomlinson is an explosive point guard and a crafty ballhandler. She’s very quick and comfortable with the ball in her hands. She can find the cracks in the defense and slash her way to the rim. She can move without the ball too; she’s a good spot up shooter from the three-point line. She uses her quickness to her advantage on the defensive end too. She moves her feet well and applies pressure.
2. Hailey Johnson Hailey Johnson 6'0" | SF JSerrra HS | 2022 State CA – JSerra 2022
Johnson has the potential to develop into a real strong stretch four type player. She’s a forward with good range on her jumpshot. Very comfortable shooting midrange jumpers. She has good size and that helps her establish position in the paint and get easy scoring opportunities. On the defensive end, she’s active and aggressive. She’s a pretty decent rim protector and alters many shots in the paint.
3. Maliyah Bosley Maliyah Bosley 5'9" | SF Xavier College Prep | 2021 State CA – Xavier Prep 2021
Bosley is on track to have a strong senior season and she picked up an offer from Cal State San Marcos last month. She’s a very unselfish player who looks to make the right pass/play. She’s got great court vision; she sees the floor and she can find open teammates. She’s a good three-point shooter who can shoot with defenders rushing at her. Comfortable attacking off the dribble and putting pressure on the defense.
4. Isabella Shimizu Isabella Shimizu 5'8" | PG Heritage Christian HS | 2021 State CA – Heritage Christian 2021
Shimizu is a solid defensive player. Her toughness and aggressiveness on that end creates turnovers and fast break opportunities for her. Offensively, she can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. She’s strong too; she can take contact at the rim and finish the play. She’s a decent shooter too from the three-point line when she’s open. Moves well without the ball.
