Monday’s Daily Dive: ADM, Gilbert, MVAOCOU
In this article:
The first day of a semi-full basketball slate was on Monday and we look back at three headlines from the night. ADM handles Norwalk, Gilbert starts their run for a state title with ease, and a MVAOCOU trio performs well. That, and more, below for Monday’s daily dive.
ADM bests Norwalk for a big win
ADM came out early and looked to pressure Norwalk for the entirety of the game. Their press worked as they forced Norwalk into multiple turnovers early in the game which allowed ADM to build a halftime lead. ADM jumped out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter before Norwalk cut into the lead a little going into the half where they still trailed, 24-17. ADM made some adjustments and got a few easy buckets in the third quarter allowing them to outscore Norwalk 20-6 in the frame and all but sealing the game. ADM would go on to win 53-31. ADM was led by sophomore

On the offensive side of the floor she had an easy 23 points and was much more aggressive than I’ve ever seen her. She was getting to the rim really well all game long. Senior

, this might be Gilbert’s best year to contend for the state title. They took down Humboldt in blowout fashion 74-47 on Monday evening. Gilbert outscored Humboldt by 15 points in the second quarter and took a huge lead into the half. Hawthorne was her usual efficient self scoring 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Senior

and Anna Heck who scored 15.1 and 5.1 points a game last year, respectively, had 17 points and 15 points in the win. Sophomore Ashley Rosener, who scored 0.8 points a game as a freshman, had 17 points in the win. These three combined for 49 points to outscore Boyer Valley themselves. It was a great performance from these three as they opened up the season with a win. They will look to continue that scoring output in a tough conference and improve on their 4-17 record from a year ago. If they can keep their scoring up like this MVAOCOU might make a little bit of noise.
