Boddie impressed me when I first saw her play in the playoffs against a tough Mallard Creek opponent. Coming off the bench, she immediately hit some three pointers that seemed to breathe life back into her team. She can shoot off the pass, or she can create separation from an opponent to show off her shot. She is certainly capable of doing a lot more than shoot, though, as she can handle the ball against any defender. She can drive the ball to the basket herself, or she can find an open teammate to dish the pass to in order for them to score. Moving into her upperclassman years of high school, I am sure that she will step up as a leader for her team.

Evans knows how to use her speed to her full advantage. She moves quickly up and down the court making sure she is available to score in transition whether that is a lay up close to the basket or a three pointer. She does a great job handling the ball and blowing by defenders trying to close out on a shot of hers. She does not let opponents score in transition showing off her ability to block shots or simply cut off players trying to get close to the basket. She is an aggressive defender in set defenses as well slapping the ball out from underneath opponents’ hands.

Jones is an aggressive guard who knows how to use her body to her advantage. She can certainly box out anyone near the block to grab a rebound, or she can use her stature to guard someone trying to get by her. On offense, she has a great jump shot, especially from behind the arc. She does a great job moving without the ball to the open areas of the court. She makes sure that she stays ready to shoot when she gets the pass. Her consistency from behind the arc proves to be a weapon as players close out on her because she can also catch them off guard by driving around them.

I am willing to bet Powell is poised to average a double-double these next few seasons in high school. She is a consistent scorer and rebounder, and sometimes those go hand in hand as she is excellent at scoring off of second chance opportunities from offensive rebounds. Her use of post moves allows her to protect every possession no matter where she is on the court. She can score near the basket, or show off her jump shots from all over the court. Don’t be surprised to see her grab a steal or rebound and take it to the other end of the court helping her team score some transition points.

When you hear that a player already has 1000 points in her high school career before her junior season fully gets started, you know this is someone who should be on your radar. She does a great job driving to the basket and fighting through any kind of contact that is waiting for her. Going up against some of the toughest competition in North Carolina this summer, she showed that she remains a consistent scorer protecting her possessions and making the smartest moves in order to score. There’s a reason she already has several Division I offers.
