With the season being pushed back 6 weeks, we have more time to preview the 2021 season. Here’s a look at some players who have to replace the 2020 Miss Basketball nominees.
Fifth Region: Whitney Hay
WhitneyHay6'0" | PFElizabethtown | 2020StateKY, Elizabethtown -
The most likely replacement for Hay’s production is going to be Kayra FreemanKayraFreeman5'5" | PGElizabethtown | 2021StateKY. Had she not transferred to Bethlehem, Xaviara SmalleyXaviaraSmalley6'2" | CBethlehem | 2023StateKY would have been a no brainer but for Elizabethtown to avoid the dreaded "rebuild" label, Freeman is going to have to show she’s the player she showed potential of being as a freshman at John Hardin. E-Town is going to be very young but Freeman has a chance to keep them in the thick of the 5th region race.
Sixth Region: Ta’Ziah JenksTa’ZiahJenks6'1" | PFMercy | 2020StateKY, Mercy -
Mercy has to replace 2 of the better players in recent school history but they are loaded in the 2023 and 2024 classes. Look for Sophomore Amy ThompsonAmyThompson6'1" | CMercy | 2023StateKY to get first crack at being the go to scorer for the Lady Jags and formerly supporting players like Emma BarnettEmmaBarnett6'2" | CMercy | 2023StateKY, Lexi CashLexiCash5'7" | CGMercy | 2023StateKY, Mariah Knight and Ramiya WhiteRamiyaWhite6'4" | CMercy | 2024KY to form one of the best young cores

Sacred Heart will turn the reins of the offense over to
Triniti RalstonTrinitiRalston5'7" | PGSacred Heart | 2023StateKY. The Super Sophomore could be a 18-20 point per game scorer this season after being relegated to the 3rd or 4th offensive option last season. At CAL, the offensive burden will shift on to
Jaya McClureJayaMcClure5'6" | PGChristian Academy Louisville | 2022StateKY as she goes from primarily being a facilitator to being a scorer first. Look for freshmen Ella Daniels and Savannah Gardner to step into bigger roles this season as well.
Eighth Region:
Maggie JonesMaggieJones5'6" | CGSimon Kenton | 2020StateKY, Simon Kenton -
It’s
Sereniti WebbSerenitiWebb6'0" | PFSimon Kenton | 2022StateKY’s time to shine for the Lady Pioneers. She has waited her turn to be the go to scorer for SK and should be a possible 20-10 per game candidate if she plays up to her potential this season. Webb will need some help from younger players to keep the team in regional title contention but don’t sleep on Simon Kenton as a legit threat to upset Anderson County in the 8th and get to Rupp.
